Crafty Israelis
There are things that go on in ‘settlements’ outside of the headlines. The town of Ma’aleh Adumim might be in the headlines these days for whether it will be part of the 1967 plus land swaps plan outlined last week by President Barack Obama (many people think places like Ma’aleh Adumim is exactly what he’s talking about when the ‘realities’ of the last 44 years need to be taken into account). But it’s easily forgotten that it’s a vibrant, bustling community of 37,000 people, some of them immigrants from other countries. On Friday, the second, annual city-wide Olim Arts and Crafts Fair took place in the plaza outside the city’s local mall. And a good time was had by all – in addition to a plethora of crafts and jewelry on display for sale, some of the immigrants’ talents included grinding fresh Colombian and Honduran coffee and selling delicious chocolate liqueurs in various flavors like chocolate-peanut butter and chocolate-mint.

A Mori Brooch, a Sidhe Designs “shop”, and a mysterious box
Belatedly, here are updates on Friday’s and Saturday’s Things. Friday I attempted to finish my Thing in a desperate rush at 10 in the morning. Miraculously, this rushed “WTF AM I GONNA DO I HAVE NO TIME LATER #@$!@” approach worked. I finally, finally figured out what to do with this brilliant vintage double-brooch I bought off a street merchant on a trip to Pittsburgh -.
Crafting a Meaningful Home Review and Project Share
A few weeks ago, I was lucky to be sent some books from STC craft to read and review.. My friend Caitlin was here when they arrived. We dug into them right away! Cait was browsing Crafting a Meaningful home, and came across a Jewelry tree project. We had been preparing for my home Jewelry sale and it was the perfect thing for a display! We did ours on a bigger scale than the little tree in a pot featured in the book, because it was for a merchandising display. I want to save the branches and put a few smaller ones into a pot for my dresser. We spray painted and glittered the branches for an extra kick of pretty! I was super happy too see some fun silhouette proects in the book .

Deal of the Week: Juicy Couture Jewelry on Sale at Ideeli
I’m ending the week with a little fashion bling! Ideeli is having a fabu-less sale on Juicy Couture jewelry including some of their special, vintage looking little rings. I’ve been trying to buy the Silver Gold Pave Juicy Bow ring pictured above for some time, but it sold out over the holidays on the Juicy Couture website, and I wasn’t able to find it anywhere else. Well, Ideeli has made my week by offering this adorable little ring and other Juicy Couture and jewelry on a special sale this week. The ring was $68.00 at Juicy Couture, but it’s now offered for $29.00 at the Ideeli sale. Everything is about 60% off the Juicy Couture retail prices. So if you like subtle little pieces like my favorite little bow ring (similar to one Chanel designed in the 1930s), then do check out the Ideeli sale. If you’re not already a member of Ideeli, click here to use my invite to join and shop the sale as my guest.

MANOJ ADHIKARI POKHARA, Sept 1 : With gold creating new record every day, sale of gold jewelries in Pokhara has dropped near to nil. Jewelers say business has shown continuous drop in recent weeks after the price of yellow metal crossed Rs 50,000 per tola (11.664 grams). Durga Man Bajracharya, president of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealer′s Association, Kaski, said sale of gold ornaments has dropped due to rise in gold prices. “Sales has dropped by more than 80 percent after the price of yellow metal grew by more than Rs 10,000 per tola in a month′s span,” Bajracharya added. Gold traders in Pokhara said sales, which usually picks up during festive season, dropped during the Teej festival. “The demand for gold jewelries used to grow during Teej festival in the past years. But the sale during this year′s Teej was negligible,” added Bajracharya. Gold has been rallying in international market due to gloom in global stock market following the downgrading of US credit rating.
