About This Business:

Specialties

We love jewelry. And it shows in the workmanship of our rings. By having our shop in our store premises, we have absolute control in the quality of our wedding rings. Our designs are highly modifiable, letting you work closely with our jewelers to create your perfect wedding ring.

Unlike other stores, we don’t believe in sizing a ring from our inventory to make it fit your finger. Excessive sizing increases the chance of losing side diamonds, not to mention weakening the integrity of a ring. Any ring you purchase will be a fresh made-to-order piece based on your finger size. Most rings can be produced with center stones of a different shape or size, as well as the addition (or deletion) of side diamonds or engraved accents. And the best part is that we don’??t charge extra for the customization, – we welcome it.

History

Established in 1969

Family-owned and family-operated, Icing On The Ring is located in the Los Angeles Jewelry District.

Our store began life as European Jewelry Company. With an emphasis on custom jewelry, friendly service, and competitive prices, it quickly developed a loyal base of satisfied customers.

With a shift in emphasis to bridal and anniversary jewelry, we reinvented ourselves as Icing On The Ring. Along with the new name, we expanded and remodeled our store with a fresh look and a brand new collection of bridal rings, wedding bands, anniversary rings, and imported fashion jewelry.

Today, we continue to serve couples with the same level of service that has made us so successful. Many people ask us, “Just what is Icing On The Ring?” It’s what makes your ring memorable. And our duty is to make your ring-buying experience as pleasant and fun as possible

Meet the Business Owner: Garo, Raffi and Vic R.

At Icing On The Ring, we appreciate the symbolism behind a wedding ring. It represents the promise of a perfect future between you and your loved one.

Our promise is to help you find the perfect wedding ring through our guidance, understanding, and generous selection.

When you visit our store, you are greeted with a refreshing environment: hustle-free, with courteous service, and a collection of wedding rings more exciting than the repetitive designs seen in other retail stores.

Once you have picked the ring of your choice, we will give you the knowledge to choose the right diamond for your ring. We will show you how the color, clarity, and cut of each diamond affect its appearance through various comparisons. The more you know about diamonds, the easier it becomes to choose the perfect diamond for yourself.

So my guy brought me in to browse engagement rings and this was such a fantastic experience!I’ve worked in downtown for the past 5 years so I’ve been to the jewelry mart quite a few times…and have hated it every single time. Icing on the Ring will not be your usual Downtown Jewelry Mart experience. They’re located on the 3rd floor of the main Jewelry Mart building, and their showroom is gorgeous. Anni took care of us, and she couldn’t be more nice and pleasant to deal with. She was patient, didn’t try to push anything on us, and made me feel so comfortable. We’ve looked at engagement rings at quite a few places, and this was probably my favorite experience. Anni was not intimidating or judgmental…like many jewelers can be…and she was willing to work with us with whatever we needed! They can custom make your entire ring if that’s what you want…they also have a lot of great setting options. If you decide to purchase your center stone with them remember to make an appointment so they have the stones in your range ready to view. If you purchase the entire ring from them it comes with a lifetime warrantee!Their prices are much better than any fancy jeweler you’ll visit…and you can get the same exact thing. I’ll update my review once he pops the question! =)
Good friends of mine recommended Icing on the Ring when it was engagement time, and they were curteous, professional, and found something in my price range that made my wife totally happy. The biggest thing about these guys is how articulate and thorough they are – I’ve gone there to have my wife’s ring cleaned, which they will always do immediately, no questions asked. I had to trade in a smaller ring after a small mix-up with my own and they replaced it on the spot. They are definitely kind to their customers and have moved to a larger location because they deserve it. I’m getting a white gold ring from my wife’s family next year, and am having it resized with these guys, hands down.
I don’t write reviews that much! ? ?..However ?go ahead and do the all dayjewelry mart run downtown Los Angeles looking for your great deal! Most of you will not get that deal that you think you will!… trust me on this one! ? when your done running around stop in and speak with Vic… at Icing on the ring! ?….He is the only one that I would trust at giving you an honest price! along with quality, and will create the ring dream of your life! ?He is the diamond man! ?He did a great job for me personally! ?that could have been a train wreck! ?REALLY! He will hit a grand slam out of the ball park for you! ? he’s the diamond man ! ?This is a family owned business that is very caring and honest when it comes to their customers! ? I would go no place else at this point!and ?if you want real quality ? they have it! ?Look no more anywhere! Icing on the ring will deliver!
I met with Raffi on four separate occasions over a two week period. He was extremely helpful in guiding me towards a stone that met the specs I wanted and fit within my price range. He never recommended the most expensive stone and always helped me understand the trade-offs between stones. Raffi was extremely patient and never forced a decision on me. It was totally up to me to make the buying decision. Additionally, IOTR designed the exact band and setting I was looking for and my fiance loves her new ring! Thanks IOTR!
I’ve had two experiences with icing on the ring. The first visit was before they moved into their new location. Vic helped me and was semi-helpful but told me that I should schedule an appointment with them so that they could prepare a selection of stones for me to choose from. He told me that he would call me back to confirm but I never heard from them again. After their move I went back to look at their settings ?At first a female worker helped us take a look at some of the settings, but once we started talking more specifics she turned us over to Vic. ?He probably forgot who I was because he did not act like he had seen me before. ?But the whole time he was with us his tone was very condescending. ?Our last interaction together left a lasting impression on me though . The setting on display had small stones that went halfway down the ring, but we were interested in getting one 3/4 of the way. We also wanted larger side stones and so we asked him for a quote. He said “It will come out to 1900″. I asked ?”That’s for the 3/4 of the way?” His said “No”.I asked “Is it the same price for the 3/4?”His said “Obviously not”.At that point I felt like walking out, but because I thought my gf might want the setting I held my tongue and simply said “So how much would it be for 3/4″.Needless to say I won’t be coming back. I couldn’t imagine having to see such a filthy ring on the woman I love for the rest of my life. So I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
We wanted to upgrade my solitaire since three years ago but could not find the right setting. Before yelp, we didn’t know where to look and always end up visiting the jewelry marts at the street level in the jewelry district. ?The qualities from those stalls looked shaky and selections were more or less the same. ? It was disappointing and we gave up after a few try. We found Icing On the Ring from Yelp and it’s among a list of 5 shops that we planned to visit that day. ? We basically rounded up 5 highest rated store from yelp and planed to visit them one by one. ?My experience with IOR was fantastic. 1. ?They had a huge selection. ?IOR was the third stores we visited and they by far had the biggest selection. ?Their selection was as big as Jared’s. ?2. ?The owner’s son helped us and he was very attentive, but not pushy. ?3. ?The price was fair and solid. ?Because my wedding band is Platinum, I wanted the new setting to also be platinum. ?I shopped extensively for few months on-line as well as at Jared. ?Jared was quite over priced, with my budget I would need to settle for 18K to get the style I wanted. ?Also, Jared’s price does not include that little head that holds the diamond. That little thing will be $100 extra which is a very odd concept to me. ?You would think it should be included. I also had a horrible shopping experience on-line, the quality was horrible and luckily I could return it. ?Also, when you shop on-line, you also charged $100.00 extra for the head (the thing that holds the diamond). Plus, you need to take it to a jeweler to set it which will be another $100.00. ?Therefore, you would need to pay $200.00 in addition to the price you see. ?At IOR, everything is included.I really think they are a very honest merchant. ?We found the style we wanted, it’s in platinum with close to 1 ct of side diamonds. ?I was expecting disappointment because the shop just before IOR quoted us a prices that were twice as our budget ( different style, but same ct weight and in platinum). ? It turned out, the price tag was only 15% over our budget. ?Since it was the holiday season, they offered a promotional discount and it fell right into my budget. ?I was so excited and my husband was really happy because he hates shopping. ?Our search finally coming to the end. ?4. ?The quality of the ring is perfect. ?They called to reconfirm the color of my center diamond so they can make sure the side diamond they use will match up ?to it. ?My center diamond is a color E and one of my main concern was that the side diamond be inferior and appear to be yellow. ?They did a great job and all the diamond match perfectly. ?The setting is flawless and I am so happy with my ring.
I purchased my wife’s engagement ring a few years back from IOTR. An amazing experience and an overwhelmingly process was made so much easier by this family run busines. Raffi is the man! His sister is just as great. They actually cared and guided me through the whole process. You cannot beat either the quality of their products, the knowledge, and their service. I bought my wife another for Xmas this year and only place I considered was them. It’s quite testament to their expertise that they have operated for nearly 4 decades. They have a life long fan and customer with me.Do yourself an enormous favor and visit them. Don’t be foolish and shop at the mall! Thanks and I will be back again!!
Recently went here after reading all of the good reviews. ?I purchased an engagement ring here after visiting a few other stores in the Diamond District, including Inta Gems. ?I ended up going with IOTR only because of their selection. ?They are a little more expensive compared to the other jewelers in DTLA but they have a modern showroom and I felt a little more comfortable with their craftsmanship as some of the other places seemed a little sketchy. On a side note, some of the other Yelpers are correct, the customer service here is hit or miss. ?One day Raffi is your best friend, the next day he has no clue who you are. Regardless, this should definitely be one of the stores you check out before making your decision.
I have been to this place twice now, once to purchase an engagement ring and once to buy the wedding bands for my wedding coming up. ?Each time I have come, they have been great to me. ?Ani is phenomenal. ?She is very helpful, not pushy, and is straight forward in getting to the point. ?She suggested certain designs for the wedding bands (primarily because my fiance and I were utilizing our own diamonds), and even explained how it would look and everything. ?The price wasn’t even absurd, it was very well within reason. ?My fiance and I decided to go for it, and we were not disappointed. ?When the bands were ready they both came out wonderfully. ?I cannot recommend this place even more. ?This will be the place I buy jewelry from now on.
I was happy to find that this place is nice, clean, safe, all those things….I made an appointment and when I got there they had very nice stones for me to look at. ?I was very impressed by the quality. ?What I didn’t like, and the reason we did not buy from IOTR was Raffi. ?I asked him if they had a “braided” band and he said No, our customers do not want that. ?What???? ?I am a customer. ?That was the first sign that he was about selling me something and not getting me what I wanted. ?After that, and via email he kept pushing me for a budget. ?In reality, I did not have one……He pushed so hard I finally gave him a number. ?I just did not feel that he cared about this very important purchase. ?I ended up going to Bridal Rings Co., getting great service from Jay and Zevan and spending about 3x’s what I told Raffi I wanted to. ?I saw the other posts about his attitude and they were right.
I tried my best to do my research on diamonds and metals before I ventured out to shop for a ring to pop the question. I read aout the four Cs on diamonds, varying opinions on why white gold is better than platinum and vice versa. Whew! I thought I knew just enough to be able to decide on a good diamon, boy was I wrong. On my first visit to IOTR, I went mith my then gf’s sister. I dealt with Raffi. He was kind and showed me various types of rings. I knew for certain I wanted a classic princess cut for her. I perused IOTR’s selection online and though I knew which one I wanted, Raffi showed me one with a cathedral style setting and I was hooked on it, I knew for sure this was it! Raffi then brought us into his office and showed us different diamonds. I went in with a small budget so the diamonds he showed me were all within the budget I had at that time but I was not impressed with the size of the stone.I know starting a marriage off in debt is no way to start a marriage so I chose not to see any other stones that would take me into debt. I received a quote from Raffi that was valid for seven days. A few days later I received a bonus at work which allowed me to double my budget, woo hoo! After shopping around at different stores,I narrowed it down to IOTR and Bridal Rings Company. BRC was offering me a savings of $100 but they did not have the setting I wanted. When I did find one similar to the one at IOTR, the price went up by $200, not only that but the diamons was smaller than the one at IOTR. I declined to buy @ BRC and went back to IOTR.On my second visit I met Vic, Raffi’s brother. Vic was much more personable than Raffi and really reached out to me to make sure he was winning my business. I showed Vic the ring I was looking at and then found out that the price of the ring had gone up close to $200! Whoa! After talking with Vic, he agreed to work with me on a pretty sweet deal. Vic brought out several diamonds and allowed me to view them under a lens and went over the four Cs. After about an hour and a half of looking at stones and comparing them to one another I settled on the one. I ended up with a platinum princess cut cathedral style with a stone that looks like a carat, but it isn’t . When we’ve gone by jewelry stores, everyone has assumed it’s a whole carat. I got a great price and my fiancee couldn’t be happier with it . So, thank Vic for your patience with this newbie and for your help.
When we began looking for our bands, we had only three requirements 1) quality, 2) service and 3) price. Shopping for bands are a piece of cake compared to searching for an engagement ring setting. When you see one one eternity band or semi band, you’ve seen them all. For the ladies, there’s only that or a solid band to choose from. For the guys, you’re looking at either a shiny or matte finish in a variety of metals that vary in price, weight and alleged “prestige.”The most useful thing I can share with you is what I learned from Raffi at Icing on the Ring. Platinum as a ring metal is not all that. It sounds fancy and desirable, but like many 5 star restaurants and their mini-portions, it leaves a lot to be desired. Being a very soft metal, it’s the quickest to scratch and dull. Per Raffi, it really only looks great when you first buy it. For men, getting a platinum band is a big no-no unless the thought of paying 30% for an inferior looking ring floats your boat, go with the white gold.Like other reviewers have mentioned, one of the biggest flaws about IOTR (for buyers) is their reluctance to negotiate — even a little bit. They’re busy, they’re hot and they know it. This is like the perfect storm for any consumer.Even though I’m half Chinese, I was only able to haggle my way to 15% off — a feat considering that others could not force Raffi’s hand beyond the 10% mark. Though we love our bands, I have to admit that I wasn’t thrilled with the customer service after they made the sale with us. ?They not only failed to deliver on the promised due date, they did it in a blaze of glory. Since we ultimately got the rings that we wanted at the price we wanted, I won’t go into extreme detail about how IOTR dropped the ball. I’ll just say that being uber-busy has major disadvantages in terms of providing customers with an excellent customer experience. Unfortunately, we were one of the few that slipped through the cracks. I would definitely work with them again, especially since they apologized, but I’d be more cognizant about the perils of being really busy and follow up on my order sooner rather than later.
I love this place. My wife and I to go ring shopping for the wedding two months before the big date. Before we went IOTR we went to a different ring store in the same building. The salesman tried to get us to use the engagement ring for parts for a new ring. What a dick! So when we went to IOTR, Ani relieved us with her no pressure approach and the fact that the price you saw was the actual price. I really liked that they want to get you what YOU want to buy, not what will make them a good commission. I plan on buying the wifey her anniversary present here in a few months.
Updated review:Came again in early July of this year, but this time for my fiance’s wedding band. I will say, the customer service was slightly better this time in that we were told someone would be with us right away and someone did come over in about 2 – 3 minutes. Ended up purchasing my fiance’s band from here, as they had some nice tungsten bands with a diamond in them for affordable prices. Even though we’ve already purchased my band, I like to keep an eye out for what else is out there… and I’m still 100% convinced that mine is nicer (quality and colour) than what’s offered by Icing on the Ring.
I was in search of the perfect engagement ring and my girlfriend and I came here after she did some research online. I was disappointed by the selection of settings; the overall concept of design was clean, but the craftsmanship was lacking. Flat surfaces were not smoothed properly and the delicate details were not present. If you’re not picky, this place is definitely for you. They will educate you on all of the 4-C’s and they don’t rush you and make you feel like a bag of money. I won’t be getting my engagement ring here, but that’s just personal preference.pros:clean storeservice was politewill do the jobcons:craftsmanshipselectionif you notice the small details, look else where
When walking into Icing on the ring we were not met with the kind of smiles you would expect. ?It was not busy, yet we waited for someone to help us. ?The man that helped us was not knowledgeable or helpful at all. ?At times, it didn’t even seem like he knew what he was doing. ?I asked him if they had any rings that looked like Tacori classic and he had no idea what I was talking about. ?He then asked one of his peers and she had sassy answer back. ?We took our business elsewhere. ?One floor down is Single Stone and they were much nicer and better in every way.
Icing is one of the most popular engagement ring shops in LA. ?We had a tough customer service experience with them, but in the end they made it right. ?Take our experience into account with all the other reviews and get the big picture. We bought an engagement ring for a four-figure price, not including the diamond (which we provided). But shortly after buying and starting to wear the ring, a large stain appeared on the band. At first we figured it was just a superficial stain and didn’t worry about it. But then it started to turn into a corroded patch, and then into a full-on pit in the metal. We took the ring back and showed the problem to one of the staffers. He buffed it out once, but the chipping and pitting became obvious again just a week or two after he buffed it. ?I have posted a couple photos showing some of the flaws. It turns out that the alloys didn’t properly mix with the gold when the ring was being made. ?(Most rings are 14-18 carat gold, which means they are a mix of gold and stronger metals. ?The metals are mixed separately for each ring, and ours just never mixed properly). ?We ended up having to get the ring remade in its entirety. ? It took time that we never wanted to spend on it, but Vic (the owner at Icing) made it right when we brought up our concerns.I might not go back to Icing, but from the other reviews it looks like they do well most of the time. ?Our experience wasn’t up to standards, but Vic was willing to make it right. ?They seem to care about customer service in the end.
First off, it saddens me that many places in Jewelry District have yet been rated. There are PLENTY of other places that offers FRIENDLY service, CERTIFIED stones, and IMPECCABLE settings.Word on the street says that this place spends 20 grand each MONTH on advertisements! -____- ?This means that they are charging you THAT much more just so they can keep their newly remodeled business up. You should keep this in mind when you are walking into this stunning blue store.Appearance: Don’t get me wrong, the store is beautiful! When you walk in, you forget you are in the middle of jewelry district ?(which is not the greatest part of town). Their lighting has the perfect amount of yellow in them to make their diamonds look out of this world gorgeous. Service: SUCKS! The first time I came here, I was pleased with all that they offered me. They were somewhat patient and etc. I wanted to bring in my boyfriend the second time around so we can decide on the setting together. The older of the 2 brothers was very rude. He was very defensive and instead of educating the customers on what some of the “diamond lingo” meant, he kept telling me that I did not make sense and I did not know what I was talking about. I tried speaking to the younger of the 2 brothers and the same situation occurred. At the end of the day, the environment became extremely hostile and I spoke up and told him he was making me feel very uncomfortable and pressured. We agreed there was a miscommunication between the 2 of us because I did not understand the lingo, but instead of apologizing for his attitude he became very defensive. I then took off the engagement ring and said I would walk away because no one deserves that kind of treatment. Another lady followed right behind me and told me that the 2 brothers were very rude to her as well, and when she over heard me talk back she was very pleased and decided to walk out as well. Rings: They have decent selection, but I honestly believe you can find better elsewhere but you HAVE to look for it! If you think you are motivated to look hard for your perfect engagement ring, not get ripped off, and get great service antique watches, do me a favor and stay away from ICING ON THE RING!!!! I will soon review the other businesses that offer 5 star service, settings, and prices
Absolutely fantastic customer service! Icing on the Ring is as good as it gets. My husband needed to get his wedding band re-sized, and we went to Icing on the Ring to have it done. They did a fantastic job, it looks great. This is also where my husband purchased my engagement ring a couple years ago, I still absolutely love it. In sum, I would absolutely recommend giving this family-owned jewelry store your business. Icing on the Ring is a great business!
Vic remembered us when BH and I came in again to re-inspect their settings. ?That was a wonderfully nice touch – it really speaks a lot about their customer service. ?We had just come in from Balian & Sons, and I wanted to see if their wares compared. ?They did, but in my humble opinion, the settings were not as unique as Balian but were still absolutely beautiful and stunning. But what really set IOTR apart from other stores was their warranty. ?Not only do they have a warranty for their settings and the stones in the settings, but also the CENTER stones. ?You definitely don’t hear that at ANY of the other stores in downtown LA. ?Not even Bridal Rings could compare. ?You only get warranties like that at overpriced-stores-with-crappy-wares like Kay’s, Zales, Ben Bridge, etc. Their setting prices are a little higher than places like Balian & Sons and Pop Gems, but because their warranty is so amazing, BH and I believe it’s well worth the extra cost (which really isn’t that much when it comes to peace of mind)! All you have to do is bring back the ring once a year (totally doable) for inspection, and your ring is basically in wonderful hands. ?This place is awesome.
Make this your first stop when ring shopping. The staff is very knowledgeable, eager to answer questions, and are very patient. They clearly want to please their customers. They are very professional and congenial and not salesman-phony-smile-and-small-talk nice. They have a good selection and know what they have to offer is good quality so they have no need to sell you on anything – their product speaks for itself.
Their service is so bad, after showing me only 8 diamonds, their clerk said that he never showed so many diamonds to his customers. Do you believe that???? I just left and wont come back forever!
This place does not need my review as there are already close to 200. I had a very strict budget for an engagement ring and even though this place was one of the nicest stores i have ever been too, they did not carry a large assortment of rings for the lower budget. If you have a smaller budget plan on going somewhere else.
I’ll give and intro, pros, cons, and a conclusion (skip to this to make it quick).INTROI was not your average engagement ring shopper. I made 3 or 4 outings to the Jewelry District over 5 months (stopping by IOTR for most trips), and while I was pretty ignorant the first time out, I was frequently confused with a jeweler or diamond broker by the last time – mostly because of the book How to Buy a Diamond, by Fred Cueller.Quick plug: Men, get that book – it’s free if you call Diamond Cutters International and ask for a free copy; just take it with a grain of salt, because at the end of the day they want you to go to THEM for the diamonds. Don’t be satisfied with the 5 websites you checked out and the 2 jewelers you talk to, or you’re gonna get ripped off – really, if there’s one thing I learned, it’s the even the best (like Icing on the Ring – IOTR) will sell you something for 50% more than you could bargain them down too if you knew what the heck you were doing. So read up gents.I ended up being twice as educated as the average guy about to propose, so this gives my review a different perspective of IOTR than most of these other posts have. Why? Because comparatively, I was a pain in the butt – I asked strange questions, and a lot of them (Can I see a sarin/megascope report; is this a class I or II cut; do you have a gem lab; how large is your inventory?) and at first I barely knew what I was asking. When I had figured things out, I bargained a lot – not one or two rounds either, but back and forth for awhile.Let me stress that I wasn’t “a jerk” about any of this either. I asked a lot, even demanded – but always courteously and patiently. Promise . And though this review may come off as arrogant to you, I tried and succeeded in not coming off that may to them (they were the experts, still).I checked out a lot of stores, especially downtown. I feel like I can do a pretty valid job comparing. How does Icing in the Ring Deal with a people who are a bit harder to work with? How do they deal with the guys who are harder to make money off of?PROS- Knowledgable staff; they answered all those hard questions!- Confident in their products- Relatively good at explaining new concepts- Custom orders don’t scare themCONS- Their confidence can come off as arrogance, especially the twins’- Not as good at making customers like me feel as valued as other places did- They have enough business coming in that they won’t let you drive their price down as much as other places (once you acquire true skills at this)- Again, they just don’t want the sale badly enough sometimes – other places will work harder to get your business- At the end of the day, higher pricesCONCLUSIONThe staff was nice, but might be less nice the more knowledgable/inquisitive you are. The prices were low, but others can be driven down further. They want your business and will work hard for it, but not as much as other places (like Balian & Sons).I liked IOTR, and they were useful – but in the end their primary use was in setting high standards that only the best of the best could beat. And to for me, I didn’t have to look too far (even though I visited at least 10 other places and spent just as much time their, and talked with people all over the country by phone and web): I ended up right next door at BALIAN AND SONS.The BALIAN AND SONS place next door saved me a lot of money, answered my pain in the butt questions, put up with my bargaining, custom make my band to my design (but gave useful tips), communicated throughout (well, they could have done better on that), and imported a diamond that I hand-picked from literally across the country. No, I don’t work for them. No, they didn’t ask me to plug them in this.SUMMARYSO IF YOU GO TO IOTR, LET THEM GIVE YOU THEIR BEST PRICE, BUT DON’T BUY BEFORE AT LEAST WALKING NEXT DOOR TO BALIAN AND SONS – THEY CAN MAKE THE SAME THING, PROBABLY FOR A LOWER PRICE.And that’s how it went for me. Good job IOTR: I’d give you a 3.75 if I could. PS: it’s all about the center diamond – please don’t let anyone fool you on that. And go for quality over size if your lady hasn’t said otherwise. And clean that thing DAILY when you get it!’ Get that book!
Thank you YELP!I would definitely recommend this place! After reading the reviews, my husband and I came here for my engagement ring and for our wedding bands. ?I got my dream engagement ring here.It is a family-owned business and we had great customer service from everyone. They took the time to help us pick out our rings without any hard-selling tactics while providing us with info to make an informed decision. ?They had many beautiful rings and good quality diamonds at a reasonable price. Their diamond prices and grade are even posted on their website. After purchasing, it took about a month to pick up. ?This place is definitely worth checking out!
The low rating is for lack of professionalism. ?I can’t speak for their products. My boyfriend and I made a special trip to visit this store downtown upon recommendation of a friend who said they’d had a good experience. It was early in our ring-shopping experience. We started out with one of the salespeople, who then referred us to somebody else to answer further questions. He spent some time going over different diamond characteristics and showing us a few diamonds (none of which were very appealing). He was pleasant for most of the encounter, but ?we were not ready to make any decisions. At the end of our visit, as he walking us out, he told us, “I hope you’re not going to go buy your ring from someone else now that I spent all of this time with you.” ?We were very turned off. ?It was very unprofessional, and needless to say, we did not go back. There are plenty of other jewelers in town.
i finally got to see the ring and it is amazing! the setting is even more beautiful than i remember seeing in their shop. i have been getting compliments on it everywhere i go and i cannot stop staring at it. thank you raffi and IOTR!
I went here to buy my engagement ring for my fiance and they were amazing. The service was excellent and they helped me find exactly what I wanted. The staff helped me customize the perfect ring and within my budget. Their selection of diamonds were great and I would recommend them to anyone. Icing on the Ring will be my one place for jewelry in the future.
My Fiance ?bought a wonderful an uh-mazingly clear diamond from Icing on the Ring, as far as I know it was a good experience because we went back again to have a final setting put in. I can only speak for our last visit, my first, his second. First off, the name isn’t the greatest, but the showcase is nice and the people are warm and friendly. We were first given a “presentation” band to display the diamond and do conduct the proposal properly. So i called shortly after the engagement to discuss an exchange. They were very cooperative and nice over the phone. When we got there on a Saturday the guy (who’s name now escapes me) was really helpful and worked with me for over an hour and went over all the details and ring comparisons. The prices were fair, the worked with me on getting what I wanted and basically designing my own ring from 2 different styles. Over all, it was a great experience, very helpful and knowledgeable staff, and a wonderful selection at great prices. ?and I can’t wait to get my final ring. I will update this when I get the ring at the end of the month.
Great store, great customer service. This is a family run business and has all the comfort and style of overpriced mall stores. Ani was excellent from the very beginning, all the way through the fittings, cleanings, pick up, etc. Full marks for an awesome experience. Thanks, Ani! I highly recommend “Icing On The Ring” to anyone looking to buy awedding band or engagement ring.
After endless searching for FI’s wedding band, Icing on the Ring is our last resort and we’re extremely happy that we ordered FI’s band from them. They’re very professional and has the best customer service. The quality of the band is very high standard. FI got a palladium wedding band with the engraved, and he loves it!!!!Icing on the Ring is very different with other downtown LA jewelers, they are really trustworthy and has lots of choices. Ani is very friendly and coached us along which band that’s the best for FI.Thank you so much, Icing On The Ring!!!!!!!!!!!
Yelp has clearly been good for business at Icing on the Ring. This place is packed when compared to nearby jewelry stores. This family-owned business has some very nice smiling faces greeting you at their store. But I have to say, when we purchased our ring and the day came to finally pick-it-up…the ring had not been properly smoothed down by the factory. I’m sorry but if you make us drive all the way to Downtown LA, please make sure you double-check all the pieces before calling clients and saying it’s ready for pick-up.
Dear Vic and Icing on the Ring Staff,If it wasn’t for your extraordinary efforts to expedite making the ring and going out of your way to help deliver it to me way past store closing, I would have left this past weekend without an engagement ring to propose with and would have spent another$1,500 to get a “filler ring” just to surprise my fiancee. ?My fiancee Joyce and I would like to personally thank Vic, your metalist, and your stone setters, for going above and beyond to make one of the happiest moments of our lives possible. ? Everything turned out perfectly this weekend during the proposal! Our experience with Icing on the Ring has been nothing but positive, enjoyable, comfortable, and genuine. ?We have had very pleasant interactions in person, in-store, over-the-phone, and on the website. ?We both have complete faith that the family shop will become even more successful in the future and hopefully open up shop down here in Orange County!… We know this because you hold customer service and the “relationship and trust with the customer” in the highest regard. ?Keep up the good work IOTR! ?We (and all our friends we’re telling!) will be visiting soon!Best Wishes,Darrell & JoycePS. Vic, it was “Icing (on the ring) on the Cake”. ?Thank you again for everything!~
Good friends recommend IotR to me, and they took me there in the spring to see how the process works. They were very nice, straight forward and very knowledgeable. The timing was finally right to propose to my girlfriend, and I went back to IotR without hesitation. I spoke mostly with Ani, who was very kind, answered my questions and was patient. Best of all, there was ZERO pressure to buy, or upscale my selections. Not even a subtle attempt to sway me into a more expensive package as many skilled salesmen do. I felt very comfortable there and would highly recommend this to anyone who might be a little new or nervous about the whole procedure.
We stopped in today for the 20% off wedding bands one day event. ?The small space was crawling with potential buyers. ?Raffi immediately noticed and remembered me (even commented that I had changed my hair… ?my family members don’t even do that!).Raffi apologized for not being able to give us his total attention since he was juggling about three couples at the moment. ?No problem, plenty of time for browsing while my future husband picked out the perfect tungsten carbide band for himself. ?Once we got that nonsense out of the way, (I’m shameless) it was time to order the wedding band that matches my gorgeous engagement ring.A couple of cookies and sodas from the complimentary refreshment table later (and a freshly cleaned sparkly ring, thanks Raffi), we were outta there. ?Another seamless experience.Per Raffi they will be doing the 20% off event again in May. ?Sign up either on their website or http://theknot.com for e-mails. ?Yay diamonds!
This place is wonderful. It’s family owned and operated, and they do it right! They’re so friendly and so helpful. They really make the buying process pressure free and painless.I came in here looking for an engagement ring, having done some research but still not having much of an understanding of diamonds. They were happy to explain everything to me and helped me really understand and see the differences between the different clarities and colors of the diamonds. They had a great selection and I found a perfect ring. In the end, I wound up buying the engagement ring across the street at Bridal Rings Company simply because they were able to offer me the same ring at a better price.Since I wasn’t able to buy the engagement ring here after how kind and helpful they were, I returned with Lauren a few months later to get our wedding bands. They were once again wonderful and even gave us a discount retroactively on our wedding bands after we received a coupon after we had already paid for our rings. They definitely didn’t have to, but it’s that kind of service that make this place the best and why I can confidently recommend it to anyone looking for an engagement or wedding ring.
Cut, carat, color, clarity, come again? If you’re looking for a place to buy an engagement ring, or any other jewelry that potentially costs more than your car, look no further than Icing On The Ring, formerly European Jewelery Co, in the Jewelry District downtown. ?First, second, third and fourth, if you’re spending this kind of money on anything, it’s essential to have someone to guide you through the process (especially if you know as little about diamonds and other shiny things as I do), and I can’t even begin to tell you how knowledgeable, friendly, and trustworthy the guys here are. ?Okay, I can… they are all of the above and more.A father-sons biz, you’re likely to talk with Raffi or Vic (the sons), and if you’re lucky, you might catch a glance of their pop, whose very presence is no less demanding of respect than the Godfather himself. ?The store is filled with amazing stones and settings, at very reasonable prices, and these guys take what could be a harrowing ordeal (am I getting the right thing? ?should I be looking at something else? ?is there a possibility she might actually say no?) and make it the special experience it should be.And, thank all that is good in the world, mine said yes –js
Wow. Wow wow wow. ?What amazing customer service. ?They don’t laugh when you tell them some ridiculous low budget. ?No. ?Instead they try and find the best of the best for your price range. ?They treated my boyfriend and I so well. ?I told my boyfriend that this was the place I want my ring from. ?No ifs ands or buts. ?There was no pressure whatsoever and I still can’t get over how genuine all the workers here were. ?Please stop by if you’re even considering getting engaged. ?It’s worth it and you won’t want to try any other place.
Great service and attention to detail. ?The engagement ring turned out exactly as we had hoped and valued over $3000 more than we paid for it! ?Only cons are the turnaround time and the material choice. ?It took them over 7 weeks to build our custom ring and they don’t work in newer metals like tungsten carbide (they resell only). ?But that’s not really worth taking away a start. ?Word of advice, start the process early and you’ll have your ring sooner! If you want a traditional based metal custom ring, this is the place to go. ?They undercharge for their craftsmanship and their prices on materials/stones is wholesale.
I came here with a soon-to-be-wedded couple so we could pick up their rings on the way to a party. We’re all deaf, and as soon as we walked in, Raffi recognized the couple and got out paper and pen, ready to use if needed. As it turned out, the groom’s ring wasn’t ready, and he wrote down how embarrassed and sorry he was that it wasn’t ready on time. The wedding’s still five months away, so no big deal, but we were surprised at how genuinely sorry he was for this lapse in timeliness. He threw in a whole jewelry cleaning kit thingy for free, and gave the groom a better-than-most stainless steel ring (it’s included with the official groom’s ring…a ring for vacation or hard work if the guy wants to look married but doesn’t want to risk losing the ring). The bride had a custom-made wedding band to match her unique, rather sizable engagement ring, and it looks gorgeous. Raffi was SO nice throughout the whole process. The place is amazing, a real gem (pun intended) among dozens of boring jewelry stores. I live in San Diego but when it’s my turn to get married, I’m driving 100+ miles to this place, no question about it. The customer service is what counts here, and Raffi exceeded it beyond any expectation!
We kind of went backwards. We eloped first and got the ring a lot later. Thank god we didn’t buy a cheap ring just for the wedding in Vegas. The rings we got here are the first rings of ours. And both our rings are absolutely beautiful and they are even better than what we wanted so we can’t be happier. This place was introduced to us by my hubby’s sister and her husband. They got married about two months later than we did. I never got a closer look at my sister-in-law’s ring, but hey, it looks beautiful and they are happy with it, so it’s great.Vic was the person who helped my sister-in-law’s couple, and Vic also helped us out in choosing the right rock and material. We had a very clear idea of what we both wanted, so everything went very fast and smoothly. Before we came here, we check our prices in several different places, as well as going around the jewelers (Tiffany’s, DeBeers, Cartier, etc.) in South Coast Plaza to do our research. So we both knew prices, design, quality of diamond, etc. We know we got great price from here. And from a place that’s very professional and trustworthy.
When my BF (now fiance) and I decided to start looking for rings it was a daunting challenge. ?Our friends knew a friend of a friend and his mom knew this person etc .. We just didn’t know where to go or who we could trust so I turned to my best source – My fellow Yelpers!! ?Immediately i saw that this place had good reviews and I went to their website and they had the type of ring i was looking for ..So my now fiance made an appointment with Raffi and ever since that point it was an easy decision. ?Raffi was SO PATIENT to explain everything about buying an engagement ring to us, all the way down to how to pick a diamond. ?I mean he was so knowledgeable and patient and answered every question and put us (esp the bf) in total ease. ?After knowing what type of diamond shape I wanted he came out with a list of what he pulled from stock and went over each and every diamond, then he pulled the ones we wanted to see. ?The appointment couldn’t have gone better. I think the prices were really fair too compared to all the research I had done before hand. They custom made my ring and I absolutely LOVE IT!! I think its THE BEST ring EVER and I am so happy with the craftmanship and the work that was put into it.. its everything I hoped for!! ?It was PERFECT.This company really knows how to treat customers properly. ?They give you all the time you need and information you need to make an informed decision. ?Raffi went over EVERYTHING in detail and we are so thankful we went with him. ?VERDICT – I love this place and would recommend it to family and friends and all my yelpers!TIPS – no parking but you can park in the parking structure across from the place ( I forgot what its called) ?and ICOTR is in the CA jewelry building I believe. ?When you get in the building just ask the security guy for where the store is and he’ll give you instructions.PS – I posted a pix up of my ring bc I loved it so much ?=)
So very happy to write this review! ?Truly had a wonderful experience with the staff here. ?I believe it is family owned and you certainly get a sense that there is pride in their workmanship and service. ?My husband purchased my engagement ring from here and was so pleased with the experience that we both decided to come back and get our wedding bands as well. ?The turnover was quick; they delivered a superior product in a relatively short amount of time. ?They even helped me to engrave his ring (a suprise) on short notice and recommended a cleaner for my engagement ring. ?We truly had a fabulous experience with this family and look forward to coming back soon!
I was anxious to check this place out after reading all of the great reviews, and I was very impressed by the 5-star overall rating with over 100 reviews, however, this place was far from impressive. It’s tiny. Itsy bitsy. Miniscule. That would be fine if it were crammed with rings, but the display cases were sparse, and the selection is very limited. We had a few questions for the guy helping us, and he wasn’t able to answer them. He stated he is “just a rookie,” and gave us the card of someone that could help if we wanted to call later with any further questions. Really? We were ready to buy that day. One word summary: disappointing.
My husband and I purchased our wedding bands at Icing on the Ring and had a wonderful experience from start to finish! ?They have a great selection at reasonable prices, and their service is A+. ?You can even make your appointment to meet with a salesperson online. ?(That was a big convenience for me.) ?We had our rings in less than 3 weeks, and that included engraving the inside of the bands. If you’re shopping for wedding bands I highly recommend visiting Icing on the Ring!
Pluses: -The store was very clean and bright.- great selectionMinuses: -On a sat. Afternoon, it was packed. Waited about 30 min to get helped -service felt rushed. (maybe because we were only looking into bands without diamonds which makes us a low profit customer..) -prices not as impressive as we were expecting (from other yelp reviews)Needless to say they did not earn our business. Bridal Rings Co. across the street did.
I’m not sure why, but Yelp in it’s infinite wisdom removed my original review…Let’s try this again.Icing on the Ring = Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!!I came to Vic at Icing at the Ring about a week and a half before my wedding. My long search for my wedding band turned into a custom ring request that a different jeweler botched. I came to Icing frustrated at my experience with a different downtown jeweler (see my other reviews) and not really knowing what to expect. He was awesome. I explained the ordeal I had been through with the other jeweler and he was more than accommodating. He restored my faith in downtown jewelers. With a week and a half until my wedding, I didn’t expect him to get it done in time for my wedding. But he gave his best effort. In an effort ?to try to get it done in time, Vic did the autoCAD rendering and the wax molding without a deposit. This is very risky for a jeweler since I could essentially walk away at any point and they would be out the labor cost and wax material. Vic understood the situation I was in and did what he could to help out a groom under distress. After seeing the autoCAD rendering and the wax molding, I was more than satisfied that Icing could produce the ring that I envisioned. I put my deposit down and asked Vic to proceed with production. I knew I was short on time and didn’t expect to be able to have my ring before I left for my destination wedding (Kauai). Vic offered to ship the ring to me overnight (to Kauai) to try to get my ring to me in time for my wedding. Additionally Vic, of his own accord, gave me a plain steel band as a back up plan in case they couldn’t get it to me in time. That way I’d still have a ring to get married with and wear while waiting for my ring. ?Vic was able to finish the ring and ship it to me a few days before my wedding…the only reason (other than the other jeweler) that I didn’t receive my ring in time is because “next day” shipping to Hawaii always takes two days I received my ring the day after my wedding and am extremely happy with the way it turned out. So much so that I catch myself staring at it randomly. A+++ with customer service. They do what they promise when they promise to!!! With regards to price…they were in line with two other jewelers, but the customer service made the difference.Thank you Vic and thank you Icing!!
First off, I joined Yelp to write only this review pretty much so I’m going to make this as simple and short as I can.Icing on the Ring is a shining example of how a business should run. ?They treat their customers with respect, don’t jerk you around with prices, and give you (as best as they can) exactly what you are looking for and within budget.I recently got engaged and couldn’t write this review until I proposed so this has been a long time coming. ?I bought the ring in July and Raffi and his family were nothing but cordial to me. ?They even let me pay off some of the ring over the phone since I couldn’t make it to the store due to work. The engagement ring was gorgeous, the band was perfect, and we will be coming here for our wedding bands to complete the deal.Every single business should model themselves after Icing on the Ring’s business policies. ?No wonder they get stellar reviews on sites like this and through word of mouth.Thank you Icing on the Ring. ?You have our business for years to come as well as our full recommendation to anyone we know.
Yes, everything people say about this place is very true. I had shopped around for an engagement ring at places like Tiffany, Robbins Bros, etc, but did not find the level of service, quality, or fair pricing that I did at IOTR. Most places will give you 2/3 but at IOTR I felt like I got all 3.Vic and his father are jewelers and make everything in house. They are able to make custom pieces to your taste and are very friendly.I believe Vic made my ring and it came out just beautifully. I am probably not the best boyfriend because I got the ring size 2.5 sizes too big, but they were willing to completely re-work the band to the right size for free, without any questions.Thank you guys, I’ll be back for the wedding bands.
I really can not say enough about Icing On the Ring. From the first day that we walked in there until the day I picked up my fiance’s engagement ring was great. The service is very attentive and more important to me, they base their sales around your budget, needs, and their expertise. They never tried to sell me the biggest and most expensive ring. Instead they focused on finding the best value for me and finding the best fit. This truly was something that I was not expecting from a jewelry store. I ended up spending under my original budget and getting more ring then I expected. A great combo in my book. Do yourself a favor and stop by their store if you are in the market for an engagement ring or wedding band, you truly will not regret it. Here are a few tips that I would suggest based on my experience with them: -If you have to go on the weekend be prepared for it to be busy. We were fortunate that the two times we went on the weekend were fairly quiet but when I went during the week it was very easy to set up an appointment and spend as much time as I wanted. -Park in the Pershing Square parking garage. They are able to validate parking there, I am not sure if they will always validate your parking (i.e. the first time you come) but even if they don’t it was a large safe garage.
Vic, his father Garo, and the Icing on the Ring (IOTR) family provide us with a new meaning to the “4 Cs” of the jewelry industry: ?Customer Service, Craftsmanship, Custom Design, and Consummate Professionalism and Class” ?in helping us create our perfect custom engagement ring. ?We visited IOTR because we wanted a certain look-an antique cushion cut halo ring with milgrain and filigree and saw their ad in a bridal magazine as well as the 5 star yelp reviews. ?We visited custom jewelry makers, numerous retail stores, and various shops in the jewelry district before coming to IOTR.IOTR is atypical of any of the other stores in the Los Angeles Jewelry District for several reasons: 1) the store is beautiful with bright lights and beautiful showcases of diamond rings; 2) the staff is incredibly friendly and never pushy or trying to force a sale; 3) the store is family run and has over 4 generations of experience in jewelry making; 4) they do elegant custom engraving and filigree pieces. We worked with Vic and his father, Garo, to help us design our perfect engagement ring. ?We brought many pictures and ideas of what we wanted and Vic worked with us to design and create a ring that would look perfect. ?The customer service here is absolutely outstanding. ?They really value their customers and want them to be 110% satisfied with their rings. ?When we got our final product we could not be happier with the way it looked–it was absolutely perfect. They also have exceptionally affordable prices for the work that they do. ?We were provided with quotes for twice the amount we paid for our ring from other custom jewelers.A few tips for those who have never visited:1) They are incredibly busy on Saturdays-if that is your only day available, go early in the morning (10am) or late in the afternoon (4pm) to avoid the long wait. Trust us, there are tons of couples who have already found this gem.2) They validate parking in the Pershing Square Plaza if you make a purchase.3) They are having a 20% sale off wedding rings the first weekend of December-(yes, we will definitely be back to get our custom bands).4) If you want a custom design for your ring-talk to Vic or his father Garo who can help you create your design.IOTR truly “rocks”!
I did my research on Yelp before going to the jewelry district. I went there once before and it is extremely overwhelming especially if you don’t know jewelry, you don’t have an idea of what you want and how much to spend. One important factor for me was being able to look at a jeweler’s website. Although the website may not entirely represent the jeweler it is a good source of information if you are starting from square one. I chose IOTR because they had a nice, streamlined website, enough information for me to get an idea of a budget and they had a design I liked so there was no need for a custom design. ?Fortunately for me, there was only one design I was looking for- round cut with a pave halo and pave on the bands. I went straight to IOTR with a friend and we had a good experience. The sales people were not pushy but rather knowledgeable and patient. They gave me plenty of information and I left with an idea of how much I was going to spend. I tried on the ring I saw on the website and it was gorgeous! Exactly like what I saw on the website and it was a good price compared to what I saw on other websites offering a similar design. I had a pleasant experience but like most other women I thought, “I’ll keep shopping around for a better deal”.I went back to the jewelry district again, this time with my fiance. I made a list of a few other jewelers that I thought I might like (bridal rings company was one- again I based these decisions on the reviews I read on yelp). We browsed around at a couple of places and it was scary!!! Everyone was super pushy, judgmental, and had an overall shadiness to them. They made us feel like we weren’t serious enough or didn’t want to spend money.Interesting story- we went to one place where the head boss was some sort of older Eastern European guy and he had a couple of Asian female sales people working all of whom were decked out in blind. I am Asian and my fiance is Caucasian. We were looking around and the boss man was asking us how much we were spending, how big of a diamond, etc. Then he makes this totally offensive comment to my fiance about how “the Asians” always want a bigger diamond and gestured to his Asian female colleagues/wife/concubines. We left immediately. Literally, we spend 5 minutes tops in each jewelry store (only 2 or 3 stores) before I got fed up of how we were being treated and decided to go back to IOTR. Luckily when we got there, they had someone available to show us some center stones which usually requires an appt. We spent an hour or so looking at diamonds and the salesperson Ani was great. She brought out up to 10 different diamonds and we compared them all and she was very objective throughout the whole process. Basically, she didn’t try and sell me the most expensive diamond possible or the biggest diamond with all sorts of flaws just so I could have a bigger diamond. She eventually led me to a beautiful stone that was the highest quality in terms of color, size, cut, # of inclusions for price I paid. If you haven’t looked at diamonds yet, please do your research!! I almost went for a much bigger rock that was a little more yellow in color for just a few hundred bucks more. But instead I did the right thing and got a high quality colorless diamond that sparkles in the dark. It’s truly amazing! We ordered the ring right away.Overall, the entire search/process took just a few hours which is hardly anything at all. I went with my gut and stuck with IOTR and am extremely satisfied. I got a postcard in the mail 6 months later for a sale on wedding bands and went back to IOTR and got my wedding band there also- great deal and beautiful wedding bands! As for my fiance, we’re going to go to Kmart to buy a 6 pack of wedding bands for him so he can replace his lost band with ease and convenience.
It’s taken a long time to write this but Vic and Raffi were excellent. Not only were they patient and willing to spend the time to show us multiple sets of diamonds but their pricing was great too! We stopped by a couple of other jewelers during our trip to the jewelry district and they tried to close the sale using tactics like – this is the best ring we have so you need to get it – or because I came with my fiance they told me oh yes she’s gonna love this one (and she was standing right beside me!). Obviously this was not the case with Icing on the Ring. Vic and Raffi showed us the diamonds and rings and let us decide for ourselves which one we liked. Their store is very clean and well lit and they have a good selection of rings and styles to choose from. Although I’ve used Yelp for a long time to look up reviews Icing on the Ring is the first business that I’ve actually wanted to take the time to write a review for. Thanks again Vic, Raffi and family for the excellent service and ring. We couldn’t be happier about our choice!
An amazing store! ?I originally tried to buy my wedding band online. Bad idea! ?The ring was completely different from what I thought I had purchased and looked ridiculous next to my 1.5 carat diamond solitaire. ?I realized this Sept. 28 – our wedding was Oct. 11. ?With about just over 2 weeks until our wedding, my fiance and I went to the jewelry district on a Saturday morning. ?I had read a great review for Icing on the Ring and they lived up to their reputation! We walked in at perfect time. No one was there. ?Within 15 minutes there were another dozen customers in the store. ?Service was excellent. They examined my ring and the first wedding band they suggested was the one that I ended up choosing (even though they had a massive selection and I tried on a dozen rings). ?They promised to have my ring done the weekend before my wedding and true to their word they did. ?And the price was less than my online discount store! ?I also bought a beautiful pair of earrings to accompany my dress.I highly recommend Icing on the Ring. ?However, they are popular and you will most likely experience a small wait on the weekend. ?But it’s worth it for their brilliant diamonds, superb prices, and expertise. ? Also, be sure to park at Pershing Square – they will validate your ticket for parking in that lot.
This establishment is immaculately clean with a large selection of diamonds to choose from. They were efficient, organized, professional, friendly, and patient. Vic made us feel very comfortable and presented the diamonds in a non-salesy kind of way. So far this is the best ring shopping experience!
I trust Yelp. ?I own the highest rated moving company in San Diego – Priority Moving. ?I have had customers rate me on Yelp and other sites like Kudzu. ?I understand the length good companies will go to in order to satisfy their customers by providing a superior product or service, or both. ?You need to be consistent, always on top, always aware, at the top of your game. ?Icing on the Ring is all this and more. ?This isn’t just a review, this is a Yelp from above telling you that Icing on the Ring IS the place to go for your jewelry needs. My wife and I have been married for 18 years. ?The beautiful diamond I gave her has remained on a simple setting for the entire time. ?For a few years she had done extensive research on her new dream setting. ?Her file was a mixture of internet photo printouts and pages from magazines. ?She knew what she wanted, kind of. ?She is not a designer but she would certainly be able to point out what she liked if she could see it.There are literally hundreds of jewelers in the LA jewelry mart. ?How in the world would we find the one to buy her new setting from? ?Duh… why don’t we look at Yelp to see what others have liked. ?We visited all of the top rated 3 jewelers. When we visited Icing on the Ring, specifically Vic, I knew we had found our place. ?Right away we felt at home, Vic took his time to understand what my wife wanted, not once was there any sales pressure of any kind. ?When it was clear that nothing similar to what my wife wanted existed, they custom designed a ring for her. ?Imagine, she has a one-of-a-kind setting! ?Not only that but it is exactly what she wanted. ?This was no easy feat.Vic and his team, including his father, took the time like architects, to draw and design the ring, using elements from other rings and my wife’s file. ?The drawings ended up becoming the most beautiful setting my wife could ever have wished for. ?The entire experience from start to finish was absolutely perfect. ?We always felt at ease, we always felt in good hands. ?The level of professionalism is beyond awesome. ?Not only that but I feel that the price of the ring was very good.We never could have accomplished this at any other jeweler that we knew of and believe me we tried. If you are looking for rings or other similar jewelry you need to, you must go to Icing on the Ring.
After going to the jeweler that did my engagement ring and about 7 another jewelry stores trying to find a ring that would match my engagement ring, I finally took some friendly advice and braved going to the jewelry district to visit IOTR. ?I was skeptical becaue I figured it was going to be like all the other street stores which I’ve always felt are a little sketchy. ?I got the complete opposite. ?The store is in a nice building. ?It is very clean, SPARKLY, and reminded me of the high end jewelry stores you find in South Coast plaza. ?Everyone in IOTR was very friendly, not pushy at all. ?I worked with Vic and he knew exactly what I was looking for and quickly found the perfect ring to customize to match my engagement ring. ?And the prices were half of what other jewelers had quoted me! ?My ring is being made and I can’t wait to see how it turns out in a couple weeks. I’ll post a follow-up when I get the ring. ?We will also be ordering my FI a custom made wedding band with IOTR. ?I am very impressed! Also a tip, you can park at Pershing Square and they will validate your parking.
IOTR is the best in the west!! I had help from Raffi, who is very informative & relaxed..no pushiness or stress to buy. Went in with no ideas about engagement rings or diamonds & came out like a ‘certified gemologist!’ Awesome customer service! Will def. be back for wedding bands..well worth the travel!
I won’t lie… there were a couple of small snafus along the way… but they were minor for the most part.In the end, my fiance flipped out when I showed her the ring… that was the most excited I have ever seen her…. I proposed using a “loaner”, but when she saw the real deal… she lost it.So despite a couple of small frustrations, the end product was excellent. ?I feel good about the price I paid, and I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an engagement ring.
I got my fiance’s engagement ring here and damn am I glad I did. The whole process was made very easy for my by the very helpful staff. I did do some research before hand by looking up the types of rings they had on their website which helped too. For the setting, it was very easy to pick and choose my favorite components from two rings and create my own design from that; they said this is how 80-90% of the rings they sell are made. So it is very easy to get the ring you want. The highlight of my experience was selecting the main stone. Vic, the guy helping me out, talked some sense into me and helped me select a stone that looked great with the naked eye and was cheaper than a stone with slightly fewer flaws that looked pretty much the same with the naked eye. Props to Vic. In the end, I spent slightly less than I planned and my now fiance freaking loved the end product; as well as everyone she shows the ring to.
Went here to get wedding bands after seeing the stellar ratings on Yelp. ?Well, now I can see why all the reviews are so great! ?Ani helped us pick our rings… painless, quick, and in our budget (we even got a promotional discount too YAY!) On top of this, 2 months later, the hubby’s ring was too tight… so we take it back to IOTR and they size it for us FOR FREE…. ?AWESOME.
I have to give Rafi props first and foremost. Not only did he deliver the beautiful engagement ring in such a short notice, but his commitment on customer service is unrivaled. And he managed to help stay within the budget. Astounding work. The five stars does not do justice to this amazing place. My fiance went all berzerk when I finally popped the question. Hey, seven years we’ve been together so we believed we were due for the next big step in our lives…Thanks Icing On the Ring – we’ll come back soon for our wedding bands in the near future.——————————Engagement Ring: A+Customer Service: A+Pricing: ADelivery Time: ARecommendation: ARepeat Business: ALocation: B
So my fiance and I went here for our wedding bands and also to fix my moms ring that had lost a diamond… When we got there everyone there was so helpful and didn’t show any sign of annoyance even though we were asking to see all the rings in the cases… When we finally found a band for my fiance and figure out how to custom make my band to fit around my ring they took the diamond out for us to keep while they worked on it…. they told us it would be done in a few days and when we went back everything was perfect they had to keep my engagement ring so they could make a perfect fit and when we went back they put the diamond back on it they cleaned all the rings they worked on and they all looked as good as new! i would totally recommend them to EVERYONE & ANYONE! 5 stars for sure
This is a great family run establishment. I wasn’t able to find a lot of places willing to transfer my diamond from my original engagement setting to a new one. Not only were they happy to do that, they also custom made a new setting for me based on my specifications. My experience wasn’t flawless, but I was happy and got what I wanted, which wasn’t a small feat. When I came to pick up my new ring I was super bummed to find that it wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for, but the older gentleman who is the patriarch of the family business put off his lunch break for two hours to work on it as I sat in his workshop until it was exactly what I wanted. Although he was concerned about the ring being too thin and breaking and stressed security every step of the way, he made the band smaller and smaller until it was delicate enough for my small hand and I was satisfied. He transferred my diamond in front of me so that I could be sure of the security of my stone. They also fixed a very delicate necklace for me and shipped it back to me for free. My husband’s palladium ring chipped soon after our wedding. We expected that palladium would be the hardest metal and hoped to avoid such issues, but apparently it’s also the hardest to work with and can bubble up underneath. Since it was a manufacturer’s defect, Icing on the Ring exchanged it for us very quickly. But it ended up chipping again. We haven’t addressed it a second time yet, but I wouldn’t recommend palladium. My very narrow white gold ring seems less prone to problems.
Best experience I could ask for. After blue nile, jared, kays, jewelry exchange and helzberg diamonds, this was the best quality for the price. If your on a budget, the halo settings with engraved collections will impress any woman.
I agree with everyone thus far – this place is WONDERFUL. My fiance and I went here to look for our wedding rings and our experience was so different from the other places we had looked. They don’t sell many rings from the showcase – you show them the style you like and they then adapt it to fit your tastes (from what I understand with no extra cost). They helped me design a ring that matches my antique engagement ring (not an easy task as it’s from 1945 and the styles these days are much different!) The people there were so nice and helpful and they helped us keep within our budget. I recommend this store 110%. (Plus, they didn’t ignore or snub as lots of stores would as we had just come from the gym and were looking kind of slummy). LOVE them!**Update: We got our rings back (earlier than quoted), and they are beautiful!! They even gave my fiance an extra wedding band for free for him to have as “back-up” if he’s doing something like painting or something else when he doesn’t want to risk damaging his actual band. We are so happy with our experience there. Go!
its a family owned business, and they extend that sense of family to their customers. they give free drinks and food on occasion, offer free parking etc. Selpi, the sweet lady who assisted us, also offered to clean my engagement ring, which i did not purchase there, and it gleamed like new! While we made our purchases, The dad (Garo?) chatted us up and even fixed the prong in my engagement ring. ?my husband got my engagement ring in long beach, and we wanted matching wedding bands that will look complimentary to my first ring too. Selpi is super sweet and found me a few choices, never getting impatient with my indecisiveness, and even giving her own ideas about customisation. We were able to match the row of diamonds (number and size too) to my old engagement ring, as well as made it similarly shaped as my husband’s rounded tungsten ring. The diamonds in my wedding band, i must say, seem to be of better quality than my engagement ring. ?They had 20% off on all rings the day we went. In which case, everything we purchased was worth the quality and care that we received. I had forgotten that i wanted engravings in the underside of the ring, garo said we can come anytime we’d like to have it done. fantastic. even after-sales support! I wanted to purchase a cleaner –cheaper there than buying it online — and they threw in a free bottle of the liquid cleanser!I read a yelper here say their selling style is not pushy… I think you end up buying here bec they make it seem like they can do anything! they probably can
As I wrote before, my husband and I returned to get our wedding rings. ?I took about two minutes to decide what I wanted. ?I originally wanted have matching weddings bands, but once the salesperson saw that my husband wanted to get a band thicker than 6mm, she suggested to have a custom made wedding band that will match my engagement ring. ?I was sold. ?I literally took my husband to two hours to choose a band. ?The salesperson was SO patient with him. ?He finally decided on one made from tungsten that will never tarnish, dent, or scratch. ?We also got a bunch of other affordable jewelry for the wedding party as thank you gifts. ?I LOVE my wedding band which matches my engagement ring exactly and I can also wear it alone. My husband loves his wedding band, which he tries occassionally to test it by scratching and banging on various types of stuff.GO to IOTR, you won’t get disappointed. ?They are not pushy salespeople.
Doing some investigative work and they were very helpful. Who knew that their was so much to learn about diamonds, color, clarity, etc…?Geez?
I can’t add much more to the rave reviews of Icing on the Ring. I worked with Vic and he was very courteous and professional in helping me pick a diamond. What ultimately sold me on this family jeweler was a couple of things:1. The diamonds we looked at were very competitively priced. (You should come in with an idea of what you want in terms of the four C’s, and the price range you find online. You’ll find that the jewelry district stores will quote you anywhere from the same price to $400 more… IOTR best matched the online prices in my experience)2. They can make custom ring settings, and all rings are made by the family in-house. The father hand carved my custom ring setting, and it turned out so beautiful, I cannot thank them enough. All of their rings come with a limited guarantee as well, so if your diamond comes off due to anything faulty on the ring, it is covered.3. To top it all off, Vic worked under my budget and quoted me the absolute best price I received anywhere else in the jewelry district.4. I should also mention that the ring came in ahead of schedule which was a life saver. So basically best prices + courteous service + custom rings made in-house make IOTR the place to choose for your engagement ring.P.S. on 9/8/08: I have some referral coupons (for $50 off your purchase) that Vic gave me, so if you’re thinking of using IOTR as well, send me a msg and I’ll give you one!
In short – Hands down this family store is courteous, patient, helpful, and just great to do business with!Having been down to the jewelry district a few times to look for my engagement ring, I was always leery of about finding someone that wasn’t trying to screw me over.My husband got my engagement ring through a family friend out of state, but we wanted to go local to find our wedding bands. ?I checked out yelp and ta-da – Found Icing on the Ring. While we went in with a grain of salt, we walked out knowing this was the place to buy our rings. ?Prices were better than Blue Nile, but you also get your own local jeweler! ?We spent almost an hour looking at bands, and despite the store being crowded with customers, we were never rushed or cajoled into something we would not be thrilled with. ?I ended up getting my wedding band here and was able to make design adjustments to create the ring of my dreams. (thin 3/4 diamond eternity band around vs. 1/2 or all the way around). ?The only reason my husband did not get his band here, is because he went with a Tungsten Carbide ring (that they dd not carry).Overall – I highly recommend, and I can’t wait to visit them again for another non wedding jewelry purchase!
Great place to purchase your engagement ring. No pressure, great sales staff, relaxed atmosphere. Raffi did an awesome job in helping with my engagement ring purchase, walking me through the various diamonds in my price range. It came down to 2 diamonds which looked identical to me except one was about $900 more. He was supportive of my choice for the less expensive one. In his words “if you can’t tell the difference, why pay more?” My fiance loves her ring from IOTR and always comments on how sparkly her ring is! Parking Tip: Park under Pershing Square because they validate. Stand up establishment. I can’t recommend IOTR enough! Thanks!
Icing on the Ring get’s an A+ for customer service and quality. I met Vic and gave him a picture of what I thought was the perfect engagement ring. He said they had no problem creating it and he gave me a quick crash course on the 4 C’s. But once I saw how beautiful the other rings they had on display were, I knew they could do better. I ended up creating a custom ring by combining a couple of ?their rings together and it turned out better than I or my fiancee could have ever expected! And the best part? It was actually cheaper!! With a lifetime guarantee!!! Even after I got the initial ring size wrong, they resized it, re-engraved the side of the ring (all free of charge), and it still looked perfect.I eventually met the rest of the family (Garo and Raffi) on subsequent visits and they were all everything you would want in a jewelry dealer — friendly, helpful, and not pushy at all. My fiancee loved the ring and we will be going back for my wedding band for sure. I definitely recommend visiting this great little store with top notch service.
I found Icing on the Ring after reading so many great reviews here on Yelp. ?My boyfriend and I were looking for bands to celebrate out 10th anniversary and thought we’d try IOTR after browsing the chain stores. ?I thought the selection was great and picked a diamond cluster band. ?The prices were very competitive. We were helped by both Raffi and Vic and they were both wonderful. ?After wearing my band for a month, I tripped – landing on my ring hand and bend my band. ?I brought my band in and Raffi remembered me from our shopping/purchasing visits. He suggested keeping the band in the sonic cleaner over night to make sure all the diamonds were secure. ?They examined and reshaped the ring for free. ?I call that FANTASTIC customer service.Park at the Pershing Square lot and IOTR will validate. Otherwise parking is expensive at other lots.
The best! Absolute best! Excellent Service, top quality, good prices. They should be anyone’s first stop when looking for jewelery. They will not stop working for you until you are COMPLETELY satisfied. I wish I could give them 6 stars!
WOW. Icing on the Ring is AMAZING. In November 2000 these folks made me the most amazing one of a kind wedding band to fit the diamond that my soon to be father in law had given me. In June of 2008 on a routine profiling stop at airport security I was held longer then usual and almost missed my plane so when they announced final boarding call and agreed to let me pass I was in a hurry and in my rush left my ring at security…once on the plane i realized my ring was gone but was refused an opportunity to exit the plane. I’m a veteran and understand on all levels so for five hours I had faith that I would get it back since I knew where it was….FAT CHANCE. After several months of frustration I had given up and acknowledged that it was forever gone. I contacted Vic and shared my grief and loss that I felt with him. He calmly assured me that he could reproduce the ring and was very compassionate giving me several cost effective options on the replacement stone. In fact Vic knows his jewelery and customers so well he challenged my description and when I double checked my wedding photo’s Vic was spot on. THANKS A MILLION! The ring looks even better than before. I appreciate you going the extra mile or two on both the time and budget constraints. It’s tough to lose something as precious as a custom wedding band but when I received my remake from you it was picture perfect and it feels as comforting as finding it. Thanks so much. Icing on the Ring is my Jeweler for life and I feel as if I forever have a friend in the Jewelry business. Will provide excellent phone or e-mail reference. Sam 858.583.1232 sam@hamood.com
My fiancee and I came into the jewelry district to look around for engagement rings. ?Icing on the Ring was the first place we stopped into and the experience was so amazing that we didn’t want to go anywhere else.Vic was so accommodating and really listened to what we were looking for. ?Amber wanted something unusual, not the normal diamond ring. ?We ended up with a GORGEOUS ruby engagement ring that has scrolling on the sides, front and back of the ring. ?It looks like the family heirloom we hope it to become. ?For top notch service and prices, check out Icing on the Ring. ?You won’t be disappointed!
I have been meaning to join Yelp all year just to write a review about this place!I had some very special pieces of jewelry that I wanted to have remade into a ring. ?I found this business via Yelp yet I was still a bit nervous to hand over my pieces, being new to the area. After discussing some ideas with the great people at Icing on the Ring, it is like they read my mind. ?When I returned to pick up the ring, the kind man there placed the ring in a box and presented it to me with a flourish, he was so excited.I was quite taken aback by how perfectly the ring met my expectations and teared up right in the middle of the store! ?Needless to say, I was very happy and will return to have future items made.I thought the price was reasonable too!
Going to the jewelry district is really overwhelming but the Icing On The Ring is an oasis! All of their rings were gorgeous and the settings all had a stone in them, unlike other shops were there is just a gaping hole where the diamond will go! You cannot tell what a ring will look like with a hole!!Raffi was really nice and let me paw through as many rings as I wanted without hovering when I went to look with my fiance. ?Every other store was a huge letdown after visiting IOTR. Fortunately my fiance went back and got me the ring I loved from IOTR and I am thrilled with it!
Not quite sure what his name was but he was the only young gentleman who was bald. ?This guy was surly and definitely did not have a clue as to the meaning of customer service. ?He was extremely impatient and terse with all his responses. Even though there was hardly anyone in the store he would make it seem as though he was so busy and that he didn’t have the time of day for helping a customer. ?Will not be back to this poor excuse for a jewelry store.
I loved this place. I was lucky enough to go when it was not too busy both times (Friday noon, Sat 3:30PM). The first time to get a quote for my custom ring, and the second time to see if it was done right, and since it was done right, we took it home. The dad of this place handmade my ring since the original wax model wasn’t going to work out with my design. He got it done earlier than they originally promised and it was done exactly the way I wanted it. Way to go Mr. Garo! You made my experience a memorable one.
I’m gonna have to say that out of all the jewelry places I went into this place Icing on the ring rocks the house. ?I went here with my girl getting ideas on what type of ring she like and I got to say that they have a lot of selections and Vic is very knowledgeable and straight forward honest fellow. ?The service I got from this place help my decision on coming back for our wedding band. ?Thank you Icing on the Ring. =)
High quality diamond, high quality craftsmanship, high quality service. That sums up my experience with Icing on the Ring. ?For proposing to my fiance, I decided to use an antique setting that she had received years earlier as a gift from her mother. ?The setting, however, was broken, so my aim was to get it fixed and upgrade the diamond a significant amount. ?The first store I went to, the jeweler wanted to change the face of the ring in replacing the diamond. ?When I went to IotR, they insisted on maintaining the integrity of the setting. ?They showed me some diamonds (which were a good value price compared to what I was saw online or at the other shop), and I picked one out that I liked. ?When I asked to see larger diamonds, the jeweler warned me that if I did anything larger, it wouldn’t fit in the current setting, and he didn’t want to disfigure the face of the ring. ?It’s not often that you’ll get a salesman trying to steer you toward a cheaper item to give you a better quality product. When I picked up the ring, it looked remarkably improved over when I brought it in. ?And when I proposed, my fiance didn’t even recognize it at first. ?When she did, she was as impressed as I was with the work that was done to it.I would recommend this shop to anyone, as they provided me with the best possible product and didn’t even try to squeeze more money out of me than I needed to spend.
They promise you everything will come with purchase the day they sell. When you go back you have to wait and wait pay parking and wait again.I’ve been ?told Prices little ?less than Robbins Bros but it’s not worth it on along term you spend more money by going there loosing time and money I recommand Robbins Brothers services for free by far.My piece of jewelry crack twice so far.
I looked into about eight other places around LA before I thankfully found Icing on the Ring. Raffi and his crew are awesome. They’ll be real with you about prices and they have been around for many many years, a family owned business in the heart of the Jewelry district. Amazing customer service, but just a bit of a wait if you go right after work hours or a Sat. morning. I say that’s a good thing, because everyone is going there. Wide selection of rings and bands as well. Prices are good, not too cheap but not expensive. Well Worth it.
Hands down the best! Looked everywhere for a one carat princess and Icing on the ring had the best deal by far. Vic and the entire team treated myself and my wife with the utmost dignity and respect not only as a customer but also for my prior military service(USMC 0331). They truly earned our business for life.
This review should have been written a few months ago but the longer I procrastinate the happier I am that I purchased an engagement ring at Icing on the Ring. ?A few months ago, I finally manned up and found myself in the market for a ring. I sought advice from buddies who’d already taken the plunge. Along the way I hit the jackpot by asking one of my girlfriend’s BFF’s about what type of style of ring she might like. Little did I know this gal had a previous career in the jewelery industry and told me what to shop for right down to the ring size. With a print out of her specifications, I took a field trip downtown to see some of the go-to guys that were recommended by my friends. One had vanished and the others were a little too high pressure or back alley sketchy. Good thing I read about Icing on the Ring here on Yelp. When I walked in I was greeted by Raffi and right away I had a good feeling. I told him up front that I was simply on a “recon mission” and wasn’t going to be making an immediate purchase but was definitely in the market for an engagement ring.Raffi casually explained that he really wouldn’t have much to show at that moment because they preferred take the time and work more on an appointment basis in order for the buyer to make the best possible decision. That approach was very refreshing compared to what I had been experiencing throughout the Jewelery District. I showed Raffi what I was looking for and he gave me a price range that was within my budget and on par with what I’d been seeing both in person and online. After checking out every place on my list, I gave Raffi a call and set up a Saturday morning appointment. Cut to Saturday. I’m half asleep but Raffi is all set and ready to go. Based on what I was looking for, he set up an assortment of diamonds and diligently walked me through the process of picking out a stone. I didn’t keep track of time but I’m pretty sure I was with Raffi in his office for close to a couple of hours looking at stone after stone. Along the way he patiently explained the differences each one and in doing so gave me an education that enabled me to feel great about making such an expensive purchase. It really helped that at no time did I feel pressured- not even when the store started to get a Saturday rush of customers. During the selection process, I played the Blue Nile card and Raffi didn’t flinch. He examined what I created online and showed me exactly why that ring was cheaper as opposed to less expensive. In the end I got a much better ring for a just fraction more than online. Now here’s where that slight extra expense has more than paid for itself. Since finding a home on my girlfriend’s finger, the ring has been run through a gauntlet of peering friends and family passed with flying colors. Her BFF with a jewelery background gave it a huge thumbs up and not even her Tiffany obsessed co-worker could find anything to nit pick and she keeps a gem scope in her desk. Finally, the other day my girlfriend was downtown and stopped by Icing on the Ring for the first time. She says it was to have her ring checked out. She’s a little clumsy wanted to see how the delicate four prong setting was holding up. However, I think she was verifying Icing on the Ring’s existence because more than a few times she’s jokingly mentioned her suspicion that her diamond looked just a little too sparkly. As luck would have it Raffi helped her out and gave the ring a tune up with a little prong tightening (they weren’t that loose) and a shine. He took care of this while she waited and reminded her that service is included with the purchase. That night I when I came home she was still beaming from ear-to-ear from her visit. All the great things I said about the service were confirmed to be true and she swears her ring is somehow even more sparkly than the day of our engagement. I’m still waiting for someone to come to me for advice but when they do Raffi is going to be my go-to guy and Icing on the Ring will be my go-to place.
OK, I know everyone loves this place, which is why my gf and I were somewhat disappointed with our experience. ?We’re looking for a baguette-cut eternity band in yellow gold for an engagement ring–sort of an uncommon item, but not unheard of. ?After visiting several other shops who didn’t have it but said they could make it for us, we stopped by IOTR to see what all the fuss was about and if they might be able to make this piece. ?Their first reaction was basically, “we don’t do channel settings in yellow gold, how about platinum or white gold?” ?They brought out a few examples, none that really fit the bill, and then began some confusion by insisting my gf’s finger was actually a size 4 rather than around a 5. ?She was trying on a ring labeled “4.5″ that fit loose, which is weird b/c we’d been trying on 5s that fit fine all day long. ?We were doubtful about the sizing, so asked the clerk to check it, and what do you know–it was actually a 5.5, a full size larger! ?She apologized, but still suggested we go with a 4 or 4.5, even though the 4.5 was really snug. ?Just seemed weird that they had mis-labeled the item, and then still wanted us to move down a half size. ?Anyway, they finally quoted us a reasonable price on the ring we’re looking for in a yellow gold setting, but they said we’d have to agree to buy it before they make it. ?Dunno, sort of a bummer overall @ IOTR. ?Happy to report we had much better luck over at Oscar’s, and no pressure to buy the ring once they made it for us.
This review is for the purchase of a diamond engagement ring and the bride and grooms wedding band.I have to start this review by apologizing to Vic for waiting so long to write this review. ?This review is about 3 months late. ?Part of it was because my fiance Yelps too and i had to wait till I gave it to her to do this.We first came here in March of 2009 because we saw on Yelp that IOTR, at that time, had 21(out of 22) 5 star reviews, and the one review that wasn’t a 5 star was a 4 star…lol. ?We thought, well, we gotta check this out even just to see what the raving reviews were about. ?Garo, his two sons, Vic and Raffi, and Garo’s daughter, whose name escapes me right now (sorry), run this family Jewelry store with the highest priority on their reputation. ?They know how important this purchase is to you and they take you very seriously regardless of budget. ?From the moment my fiance and I walked through the door, Vic made it blatantly obvious to us that he was going to make sure we get an engagement ring that we would be excited about. ?If you know what your looking for CZ Jewelry, It’s probably a good idea to call them first and make an appointment. ?Newbies… fear nothing and just walk in. ?They will probably ask you to come back, as Vic did to us, but, for a good reason, and not before they give you a basic education to help you get a vision of what kind of stone you are looking for. ?On your appointment, they will have prepared a presentation with a pre-filtered selection of stones like Vic did for us. ?Vic’s presentation was so helpful in explaining the variations and his opinion of what he looks for in a stone. ?And as you can probably guess, he wasn’t pointing at the most expensive stone. ?And because we were so anal about our stones, we actually came back for two rounds of presentations and Vic was more than happy to do it.They make and design their own settings. ?My fiance loved that she could get have her input on the design setting. ?So if there is some exclusive setting design you saw and loved, but that store wants to charge you an arm and a leg for it because they like to put their jewelry in a turquoise box with a white ribbon on it. ?You might want to see if you can sneak a picture or just show these guys.As far as pricing is concerned, they are not afraid to let you comparison shop. ?Vic was not bashful at all about giving me the specs. and prices of each stone he showed me. ?He probably could have just save me a lot of time by giving me the ‘ole salesman pitch of how their prices can’t be beat but that’s not his style. ?I looked on the internet, big stores, small stores in the jewelery district that look more like stands than stores. ?I was so pleased with their pricing that I end up getting my fiance’s matching wedding band and my wedding band from them as well.End result…I walked into IOTR not knowing anything about diamonds and a very conservative budget. ?I told Vic that “I’m not sure what im looking…I only have this much to spend… but (half jokingly) I want to see that ring sparkle across the room.” The three statements together sounded pretty silly, even to me. Vic didn’t laugh. ?When it was all said and done, Vic handed me the ring that I was going to give my fiance. ?It was so beautiful, that I actually got a little emotional inside as I held it. ?Since my proposal, my fiance and I have met up with friends in some dim lit bars and clubs. Even with my fiances tendency to hide her hand (she can be shy sometimes), we have yet needed to verbally tell anymore we were getting married. ?The ring usually does the annoucement for us. ?And everytime it happens, I think to myself “…man, I can’t believe Vic did it!” ?Thanks, Vic.ps- they validate parking if you park in the pershing square lot.
After looking at rings my fiance ending up liking a ring from the little blue box store which are way over priced imho. I saved a ton of money by going with IOTR and they were able to produce a custom near exact replica with a few minor tweaks. At the time that I looked they had a better selection of diamonds than the Jewlery Exchange and at a lower price. We went back several months later when they had their 20% off sale to get our bands.
Thank you Icing on the Ring! Raffi and the whole staff were incredibly helpful. On our first visit to the store my (then) fiance and I didn’t know anything about rings, stones, metals, etc. The staff was incredibly helpful in teaching us everything we needed to know. We were also on a very tight budget in buying our rings (both my engagement and our wedding bands) and Raffi was able to help us find something that fit both our tastes and our price range (which we thought was going to be impossible after shopping some of the other big name engagement ring stores). ?We would highly recommend visiting the shop, and have already sent our engaged friends to Icing on the Ring!
Since they had great reviews on yelp and were open on Saturday, my fiance and I decided this was the place for our tastes and schedule. The owner and his son were wonderful and took time out to design my fiance’s wedding ring to match my one of a kind engagement ring. And then I got a perfect band made just for me. The owner was able to show us wax samples of both within minutes! Warning: I hear we got there on a slow day. Saturdays fill up fast there and we got special treatment because he had time. I wonder if it’s better to call first instead of rolling the dice like we did. We get our rings in a couple weeks. Fingers crossed the rings are as good as the service!
There isn’t much these days that gets me wanting to write a review. ?I got burned out writing so many when I first started on yelp. ?However, I vowed to myself that when I finally got my engagement ring I would definitely write a review of my entire experience with IOTR. ?It’s helpful if I tell you first that the process my husband and I went through was very non-traditional. ?Typically a guy doesn’t let on that he’s even going to buy an engagement ring. However, my husband and I eloped just over a year ago and in January of this year finally decided to look at rings. ?I don’t know what he would’ve chosen had I not been part of the entire process. ?Sometimes I think it would’ve been nice to be surprised, but then reality hits and I know my husband wouldn’t have done as good a job as I did (sorry honey!).My bff suggested that I check out IOTR where she bought her husband’s wedding band. ?I looked on yelp and saw that they had 5 stars, which is really unheard of. ?Review after review only had stellar things to say so I knew this is where I had to go. ?From the moment we first walked in, we felt comfortable, even though we knew nothing about diamonds. ?I had always had my mind set on this beautiful Tacori setting I had eyed almost a year and a half earlier. ?I didn’t think anything or anyone could sway me away…until I walked into IOTR! ?I knew I wanted something unique – not the standard solitaire on a plain band…BORRRRING! ?Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful, but I can name about 5 women I know, if not more, that have pretty much the same looking ring. ?I’m not the bling bling type. ?I don’t even like wearing jewelry and usually don’t, but I knew my ring had to stand out and IOTR did that fantastically!Initially Vic’s wife helped my husband and I narrow down our search. ?She was really nice, helpful and not the slightest bit pushy or snooty. ?Then she passed us over to Vic to help make a decision on a setting and then diamonds. ?He went over all the pros/cons and was honest from the get-go. ?He was extremely knowledgeable about diamonds and never once did we feel pressure or feel like we were getting swindled. ?In addition, he was also very patient with us. ?He let us look at all of the diamonds under magnification over and over again, pointed out every flaw, figured out diamonds that fit in our budget, etc. ?We met with him about 3-4 different times to complete the whole process. ?Compared to other rings we looked at at places like Robbins Brothers, prices were at least 50% less at IOTR. ?IOTR can make any ring your heart desires and everything you get is custom-made for you. ?I slightly changed up the ring that I saw in the showroom to make it look more antiquey and I knew that no one else would have the same ring. ?I constantly get women complimenting my ring (and men) telling me that they’ve never seen a setting like mine before. ?In addition to all the great things I have to say about IOTR, Vic also told us to wait to buy our bands for when they run their 20% off sale. ?He didn’t have to tell us and we would’ve spent more, but he did, which I completely appreciated. ?In a few more weeks I’ll have a beautiful band to match my beautiful ring. ?I’ve since sent another friend there to buy her and her fiancee’s wedding bands and will continue to send people. ?I cannot say enough good things about IOTR, Vic, the quality, pricing and the entire process. ?Don’t go anywhere else without checking out IOTR first. ?You won’t want to go anywhere else once you step foot inside!
I can’t begin to describe how great this place is.I had a totally unique engagement ring in mind. I bought a sapphire online and wanted it set somewhere. I anticipated that a store might not like having a customer who didn’t buy their stone there. Not the case here!I was in and out in a half hour on a Saturday, picking out a solitaire setting with the help of a number of the family members. The father took over when he saw exactly what I wanted and he helped me find the exact right setting for the big stone. The price for the band was fantastic as well, including a $50 fee for labor, which seems more than reasonable. They had the ring ready in about 2 weeks and it looked fantastic. My girlfriend was delighted with the ring – it’s totally unique and she loved that the whole thing was custom made for her.I was really apprehensive about this process but had a fabulous time with Icing on the Ring. I can’t recommend them enough!
I can’t say enough good things about this place. ?They have a wonderful, extensive selection of rings (many more than shown on their website, and you can also customize them). ?Raffi is super friendly and knowledgeable, and will work with you to make sure you get exactly the rings you want. ?And because it’s in the jewelry district, prices are competitive — you’ll get a much better deal here than a jewelry store on the Westside.
My fiance and I looked at a huge selection of engagement rings recently. ?This was one of the places we visited. ?They have a huge selection of men’s wedding bands, but their selection for women’s engagement rings was rather limited. ?I wish they had more to choose from. ?The quality is amazing. ?However, their prices are a little high. ?We ended up buying our rings else where, but I would still recommend checking this place out. ?It’s definately worth a look.
What a great little shop! ?We bought our wedding bands here and the family was so patient while we were trying to pick one beautiful option over another. ?We ended up getting bands that they customized to us and they turned out exactly how we described. ?We love them! ?The only thing is that these guys are pretty popular and give good customer service for each person so you might wait a little bit for service, but it’s definitely worth it. ?They are very affordable and we wished we had found them sooner.
My wife and I bought our wedding bands here. The prices were good enough that it was actually worth driving to Los Angeles from San Diego, and I hate traffic. Service and selection were good.
This place is amazing. My fiance got my engagement ring from here, and it’s absolutely incredible – and handmade, to boot. He raved about how wonderful and accomodating the staff was. We went back to buy our bands and were once again impressed by the initimate family appeal of this store. The owner’s daughter Ani is wonderful, knowledgeable, beautiful and ever so helpful. She helped me find by engagement ring that I adore so much – I call it “my precious.” (Hey – Gals like diamonds. What can I say?) When we picked up our bands, my fi’s was somehow too small. (Apparently fingers swell a lot through out the day!) They were able to size it on the spot with no extra charge or wait. I love this place and look forward to recommending it to people for years to come!
Amazing customer service. Everyone here is super nice and professional.
Wish there were more stars I could give Icing on the Ring because they were fantastic all around! The family-run staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and most importantly not pushy. They took our promise ring and were able to model our engagement ring after it beautifully. I was particularly concerned about making sure I had a conflict-free diamond, and they were able to secure a Canadian-mined and processed diamond for us. We were so pleased with the quality of their rings, affordability, and excellent service, that we came back to purchase our wedding band and have since recommended other friends to them who have also purchased their wedding bands with them.
ugh, im STILL very PO-ed and upset with my experience here. HE SCRATCHED MY HW ENGAGEMENT RING!!!!!!!!!!! yeah i read reviews and heard from people that this is a cheap place to get engagement rings. decided to check it out while ring browsing for wedding bands since we were already in the jewelry district. checked out a few rings. they were ok. before i checked this place out, i skimmed through the reviews. i was EXTREMELY worried i was going to have the same experience as Dave T in the reviews below. man, oh man! my experience was juss about the same or even worse. the guy asked to see my engagement ring that my love bought for me so he can check my ring size. he takes my HARRY frickin WINSTON engagement ring and shoves it into the metal measuring stick! the ring was practically stuck so when he yanked it out he scratched the entire inside of the ring!!!!!!!!!! at that moment my stomach SAAAAAAAANK and my heart stopped. i took such great care of the ring over the past year and was super protective of it as it means so much to me. but in one instant, my cherished jewel got R@PED by a stupid metal stick bc someone neglected to put any care into it!!!!!!! you would think a professional jeweler would put more care into the process?!?!?! ?i didnt know what to say. i was stunned. at first he said he didnt do it, it coulda been me. how the heck do you scratch the inside of a ring unless you jam it into a metal rod? esp an anal person like myself!!!!!!!!!! you kno what he offered? he offered to polish it using another metal stick and his spit. NO THANK YOU! ?ppl thinking about coming here, remember to never give them your cherished ring unless you dont mind getting complimentary scratches.
Icing on the Ring is amazing. Ani is the best. They are so helpful..and I love my ring it is beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Their prices are way more reasonable than most places we looked.
i have never bought a ring before or really any jewelry but the time came for me to want to purchase a surprise engagement ring for my girlfriend.after reading many of the yelp reviews i decided “icing on the ring” was a good place to start. just for a quote, etc.but the moment i went in and spoke to raffi i knew i would be placing anorder that day.i had zero knowledge about metals and stones although i tried to do some research on my own online. i had a drawing of a custom design i wanted for the ring and raffi assured me it wouldn’t be a problem.the ring came out perfect and my lady was and is thrilled about it.thank you so much to the whole family who runs this great place for not only their hard work and honesty but for the awareness of their part in the memories they are creating.
I found Icing on the Ring right here on Yelp and was impressed with the consistently positive reviews. ?Shortly after, a friend recommended the place after he purchased his wedding rings here. ?The first thing I noticed on my initial visit was the place was busy while all the other surrounding jewelry stores had little to no business. ?I was helped by Raffi, who is great at helping a novice such as myself understand the in and outs of diamonds and jewelry. ?I felt comfortable and not pressured. ?I ended up purchasing my engagement ring from him after a few visits. I was very impressed with the service, pricing and quality of the merchandise. I didn’t even look anywhere else but here for the wedding rings. ?Highly recommended. ?Thanks Raffi!
We purchased our wedding bands at Icing on the Ring a few months back during one of their popular sales. ?The sales people were very pleasant, not pushy and informative about their selections. ?After the rings we ordered were ready for us to pick up, they didn’t call us as they said they would, but that didn’t bother us because we were just excited to pick up the rings. My mistake: I got my engagement ring resized there (being unable to take it back to where it was purchased). ?IOTR did not sell rings with the type of setting that my engagement ring was so I should have done my homework and looked elsewhere. ?Their mistake: A sales associate told me that they could absolutely resize my engagement ring without issue. Well there were issues. The prongs holding the gems were broken twice during the resizing so, in good customer service practice, the owner offered to hand deliver the ring to me 2 days later when it was fixed. A couple days after receiving the ring, a prong broke again. ?(it had been perfectly fine the previous 6 months I wore it. just a 1/4 size too big) After I brought it back again, the owner took the defensive and told me my ring was “made bad” and that the prong braking off was my fault and he would have never agreed to take on this resize if he met us in the beginning. ?i was shocked and offended. ?They could have saved me (a ring buying novice) a lot of trouble and headache if they just said “sorry, we don’t resize rings with this setting” from the beginning. Overall, despite the niceties in the beginning, it was not a pleasant experience and I would not recommend this place. ?There are plenty of other decent choices available downtown and I would recommend going elsewhere.
Got my and hubby’s wedding bands at Icing on the Ring based on great yelp reviews. It was a busy Saturday when we went down and we had to wait for about 15 minutes before being helped but it was fine because were were able to browse their beautiful selection. When it was our turn we never felt rushed to make a decision, even though there were people waiting behind us.We both love our rings! I had them resize my engagement ring on the advice of the sales lady and during the process they also redid the rhodium plating since it had faded. I guess the only negative would be that I had to resize the wedding band and engagement ring again a couple of weeks after the wedding. I must have been super stressed before the wedding because after I got back my rings wouldn’t fit on my fingers w/o cutting off my circulation. The wedding band was resized for free but I had to pay for the engagement ring. The quality and craftsmanship are great and the family is very helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend making this a top stop on your list of jewelry shops to visit!
An additional glowing review for Icing on the Ring and Vic Rupchian.Frustrated with jewelers in the SF Bay Area, i decided to spend a week down in the Diamond District in LA to find the ideal diamond for my sweetheart. ?Thankfully, I had the exact address and my father’s description of the surrounding bazaar-like neighborhood at the ground level, else I never would have thought to enter the building. ?Bad puns and all, the building is a diamond surrounded by the rough.I’d shopped online at http://BlueNile.com and http://Amazon.com and thought I had a solid grasp of the four C’s and how they affected price. ?I had printed images of what I wanted the band to look like. ?However, I was a complete neophyte in how it all combined when looking at a diamond in the real world and I had three weeks until I planned to propose. ?Vic sat down with me and educated me in the differences, both how they would look in a simple setting as well as when laid at an unflattering angle.I spent an additional two days questing and no other shop came close to providing me with the same level of comfort and competitive pricing then did Vic.Two telephone calls, a few emails, and two weeks later, Vic’s father created a custom engagement / wedding band set based on the images I shared at the first meeting and the final mounting was spectacular. ?My fiancee cannot stop looking at her ring with a smile.
There are some shady looking dealers in the jewelry district. ?I was a little skeptical checking this place out for my wedding band, but as soon as I walked in the store, I was pleasantly surprised. ?This shop is not your typical DTLA jeweler. ?First of all, it isn’t located with all the rest of the jewelry mart vendors, rather their shop is located on the upper levels of one of the buildings. ?The shop is bright and clean and they offer modern ring styles. ?I appreciated that the staff were not pushy and were very helpful. ?I was able to find a nice wedding band that had a unique design ?with diamonds. ?I looked at many places and couldn’t find anything like it. ?The price was a good and it was on sale. ?I hinted to the mister that he should come back here to get me an anniversary ring. Guys, if you are looking for a beautiful engagement ring and don’t want to break the bank, you should definitely come to Icing On The Ring to check out the selection.
I had a perfect experience with IOTR. ?Vic helped me out and I can’t say enough about his professionalism and creative skill. ?My fiance and I are thrilled with the unique setting he made. Not all downtown jewelers are the same. ?I tried to work with another jeweler downtown recommended by my brother and they were so terrible & unprofessional I had to walkaway. ?I was given specific characteristics for the diamond my fiance wanted. ?The first downtown jeweler had exactly ONE diamond that matched these characteristics. ?I wasn’t satisfied with my CHOICE so I turned to IOTR b/c of the great yelp reviews and when I got there Vic had FIVE diamonds within the specific parameters for me to choose from. ?Needless to say the experience was as “advertised”.Vic made this daunting process (going in I knew VERY LITTLE about diamonds) almost TOO EASY. ?By the time I was ready to make the purchase & choose the setting, I actually had confidence about my decision. ?It felt great.Go to Icing on the Ring for your engagement ring – you will be glad you did.
Okay, so most people writing the stellar reviews are first time diamond buyers. ?The ring I helped buy here was the 3rd and I definitely know more than the average person about diamonds. ?We had an appt with Raffi, but he was busy so we got VIc. ?I had an exact stone from the website that we wanted to see, and was told they had it on the phone, but when we got there, he said it wasn’t available anymore. ?Okay, so then he showed us 3 similar stones. I was a bit aggravated ,as from the inventory, I wanted to see this particular one, but we move on. ?Then I started asking about the stone, wanting to see the Sarin report, asking about the grade on the Cut Advisor, and here he got defensive, saying, “well that’s not the way you buy diamonds!”. ?Well honestly, if the diamond is for someone else, yes it is! ?No one should just go by the way you feel about a diamond. They all look great under those fluorescent lights! ?Anyways, this wasn’t for me, so I just bit my tongue and we went on. ?In the end, the stone we got was awesome, it was a good price, and the setting that was picked was exactly what the fiance wanted. ?She loved the diamond, the setting, the whole thing, so that’s what it most important. ?But I would never personally go there again, as my diamond knowledge seemed to aggravate him, I don’t know why. ?After he figured I knew a lot about diamonds, he stopped trying to be even helpful and seemed like he didn’t care if we bought the rings or not! ? ?I really thought the customer service was sub-par and it felt horribly to be treated almost with contempt, but since the stone was great and it was what the customer wanted, I was supportive. ? I would give a 5 for the stone and style. ?It really is one of the prettiest diamonds and sets I have ever seen. ?For the customer service, I would say 2.5-3. ?They seemed otherwise nice. ?When the ring was picked up, there was a ding in the band and they got that out, and then it had to be sized down and they did that just fine. ? But again, if you’re knowledgeable at all, you may get some attitude. ?Go somewhere else, where they take your questions and challenges seriously and with respect. ?If you are a novice, and want good quality and competitive prices, you can see that most people here are very happy.
They are professional, patient, fair, nice — and decent selection. Very happy with them! Highly recommend! Park in Persing Square – they validate.
there isn’t too much to add to these previous glowing reviews except that my fiance and i ordered our ring here and it turned out even better than i expected!!! we picked out the design from their showcase and asked them to add milligrain edging , and for four weeks i tossed and turned wondering if the edging would turn out okay on the ring. it turned out perfect and i think really took the ring to the next level! a beautiful and delicate detail.they also let us watch as they set the diamond (which is a family heirloom) and even explained the process to us– kind of a lesson in diamond mounting 101! basically we are thrilled and will be back for our wedding bands!! don’t hesitate to go there, or customize one their designs to your tastes– it will turn out better than you imagined!
Came here last Saturday and the place was PACKED. It was all you Yelpers, wasn’t it? ;p ?They have a very good and large selection of mens’ bands. Their womens’ selection of rings was neatly edited to fit a modern and tasteful sensibility. The owner was helping out a couple, but he acknowledged that we were waiting and asked us to please be patient, that he’d be with us in a few minutes. While we were standing around – there must have been about 14 couples in that ?tiny store and it was hard to move about – ?another saleslady told us that she would love to help us as soon as she finished up. It was done in a very warm friendly way and not at all aggressive. However, The Boyfriend was hungry and I could tell he was starting to get grumpy. We decided to leave in search of food for him. We unfortunately didn’t get helped because there were too many couples at once. But I wouldn’t hesitate to return in a minute after being greeted in such a manner. Definite good vibes coming from this store.
My fiance and I decided to get married in 1 week and we were determined to get not only the rings we wanted but in time! We thought this was going to be a challenge but after calling Icing on the ring and speaking with the owner Vick he assured us that this could be done. We went down to the store and found the rings we wanted and within the budget we had planned. The staff that helped us were not only a pleasure to work with but were very helpful and made our first ring buying experience a GREAT ONE! We will continue to go back here for any of our jewelry needs! We are VERY happy and we LOVE showing off our new purchases! Thank you all soooo very much!!
We bought my fiance’s wedding band at Icing on the Ring and I got my engagement ring properly sized there. ?They were very helpful and patient, and the prices the most reasonable I’ve found. ?I also picked up some great silver earrings for work in the process. ?They were very professional and earnest.
I did a lot of research on line before going into Icing on the Ring. While shopping for an engagement ring, I read the on line guides, priced out my desired stone on Bluenile, etc. When I came to Icing on the Ring, Vic was very patient and found me the perfect diamond at the right price.
My husband and I came here to get our wedding rings and the customer service was great! We met with Vic and he was so awesome and gave us a great deal. ?I absolutely loveeeee my ring!!!! I cannot stop looking at it!!! I highly recommend this place for quality jewelry for all your needs!!!!
Extremely helpful, friendly, straight forward and professional jewelers. Customized my ring exactly how I wanted it. Compared diamond prices to Blue Nile in the store and they were more expensive but competitive. I highly recommend this place if you want a customized experience.
Love that this is a family company and they are the most kind, respectful people. ?We bought our wedding bands through them because we know that the service is outstanding, prices are great, and they will be around for a long time. Unlike some of the other stores in the jewelry district, this place is peaceful, huge selection, and very helpful (not pushy).
The knowledgeable staff at Icing on the Ring was extremely helpful in helping my wife and I pick out the perfect wedding bands. ?Great experience all around – and the price was actually better than I had expected. I will now add to the 40 or so five star reviews this place already has.
I can’t even begin to say enough good things about Icing on the Ring. My fiancee and I shopped around for engagement settings – looking for a good price and good quality. Walking into Icing on the Ring was a dream come true. All of the sales associates are extremely helpful and friendly, and willing to work with you to customize the ring of your dreams for a bargain. I am so happy with how my ring turned out – they listened to my exact wants and needs, helped me find something that was functional for me, and gave me a good deal. I highly recommend this place. I can’t wait to come back for my wedding rings!! Thank you, Icing on the Ring!
We went on a whim after receiving a coupon in the mail and we were blown away by the selection of men’s wedding bands. The family of staff were all very helpful and took the time to explain the difference between metals and design options. We ordered a great band that we both love and the great customer service continued when I needed to have it shipped to my work because I was traveling too much to get back to the store. We will definitely be back for any other jewelry hunts
Loved this place. The guys were great! Very friendly and helpful but in no way pushy. ?They had a nice selection and kept us in our budget. Would definitely shop here again.
Icing on the Ring is the BEST jewelry store in downtown LA. ?My fiance and I visited during the 20% off sale and worked with Garo. ?He recommended the perfect band to accompany my engagement ring. ?I left my engagement ring for him to resize and repair, and he did the most amazing job on it. ?It looks 100% better than it did before — and I didn’t think it could get any better! ?Because the shop was so busy during their sale, Garo promised to honor the 20% discount when we came back to pick up my ring the following weekend, and he came through as promised. ?If you’re jewelry shopping, don’t both with mall stores or another other vendor in the jewelry district. ?You won’t be able to best the professionalism or customer service at Icing.
I was really nervous about picking out an engagement ring (mainly I was worried about getting screwed since I’m no jewelry expert). I did a ton of research, and after much Yelping it was clear that Icing on the Ring was a good choice. Well, it ended up being the only place I went, so that should tell you something! I went to the jewelry district with my guy with every intention of going to at least three stores. After we spent some time in Icing on the Ring I knew it wasn’t necessary. It’s so nice to support a family-run business, and everyone there was so nice and helpful, no pushiness at all. I knew I wanted a sapphire and they had excellent selection, even showed me a lighter-colored sapphire that I never would have even considered (which I chose, much to my happiness). Everyone has raved about the ring since the proposal, and I am so happy with it. Plus I really feel like it was a reasonable price. My guy worked in sales for a long time, and he agreed that it was a really honest, reasonable place. If you’re freaked out about buying something so important, go!!
Yelp saves the day! After many many months of researching, searching and walking through downtown galleries, I finally consulted with Yelp. I’m so glad I did.My fiance and I were very close to purchasing the ring at another retailer downtown. We already had the stone and wanted a beautiful, vintage inspired setting. Then we walked into Icing on the Ring and that changed everything. The folks there couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. And…there was NO hard sell on anything. After discussing what we wanted in a setting, they showed us several options they had in their case. We settled on one ring (after some discussion) and and made our decision. The guys there said it would be even more beautiful when it was all completed and on my fiance’s finger. They lived up to their promise!!!The ring is stunning and my fiance gets compliments on it all the time. It is beyond perfect. I am incredibly picky and only like to give my business to retailers with whom I feel comfortable (especially on a big transaction like this). I couldn’t be happier with our decision to get our rings at Icing on the Ring. And, from a price standpoint, they are very very reasonable. Go there, you won’t be disappointed!Oh…I got my ring there too! (I didn’t take as long to decide because, well, I’m a guy.) It’s fantastic and really fits my personality. They have a great selection of men’s rings so you can get it all there in one trip.
I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I’m from Orange County and after shopping at all the major retail places including Robbins Bros, Jewelry Exchange, Kay, and South Coast Plaza (including Cartier and Tiffany), Icing on the ring was the only place that felt right to me. The experience here is what buying an engagement ring or wedding band should be like. Every other place I went to only cared about your money and getting your business. This is not what you want to remember when you look at her ring 50 years from now. I highly recommend IOTR. Thank you Garro and family.
Garo is a craftsman in the truest sense of the word. ?He and his sons were able to custom make two bands that perfectly suited the antique and family heirloom engagement ring that we came in with. ?Icing On The Ring surpassed our expectations.
Garo and his sons Raffi & Vic offer the most friendly and personal service. ?My ring is breathtaking and I receive compliments EVERYWHERE I go. ?I have referred many friends to them and everyone is thrilled with their jewelry. ?Beautiful work, fair prices, and the most attentive customer service you will ever find. ?No pressure to buy anything, these are just honest & great people. ?I cannot say enough wonderful things about them and I recommend them without hesitation.
I took my fiance’s mother’s engagement ring to be sized and cleaned here. ?I decided to have Garo make me a wedding band to pair it, he did an AMAZING job and it’s totally beautiful. He helped me and is a comepletely trustworthy man as well as the rest of the family and employees. ?I highly highly recommend ICING ON THE RING!
Brides, boyfriends who are about to propose, please read this…if you are in search of an engagement ring or wedding band, Icing on the Ring is the ONLY place you need search. Best prices, BEST customer service, BEST quality of workmanship…if only every business were this well-run and treated their customers as well. Before we went to Icing on the Ring, we made the mistake of working with a different jeweler who couldn’t get my engagement ring right. After many upsetting months working with this other jeweler (who had promised he could make us anything we wanted), we realized we needed to start over. It took only one trip to Icing on the Ring to get a new, exquisite ring custom-ordered. It was perfect.Icing on the Ring is incredible. We have since gone back for our wedding bands, and plan to return to them for any jewelry needs we have in the future. Again, don’t waste your time going anywhere else. IOTR is the best.P.S. They are all great, but we’ve always dealt with Vic, who we adore.
A really good experience – customer service was great. ?They never tried to upsell me or guilt me into paying more than I wanted. ?They simply got my price point, showed me various options, explained the choices I had re: the 4 C’s (cut, carat, clarity, color) and I ended up with a ring that I was really pleased with (and my fiancee thinks is perfect).
I never knew designing a custom engagement ring could be so easy and enjoyable. I worked directly with Vic and he did an incredible job designing the ring I’ve always dreamed of while staying within my fianc’s price range. He also accomodated my work schedule and stayed after normal business hours for my appointments. They also validate too in Pershing Square, which was nice because I had to go to the shop a good few times to get the design just perfect. Thank you Vic and I’ll be back for sure for the wedding bands!
Highly recommended! We first heard about IOTR on Yelp, and after reading all the excellent reviews (there were about 45 at that time), we decided to visit and see for ourselves. When we walked in on a Saturday morning there were quite a few people there already, but someone came up to us and told us we would be attended to shortly and that we could look around if we liked. The store itself is not very big, but they had an elegant selection. However, the reason we were there is because we wanted custom-made rings based on a design we had only ever seen in 2D print. Vic was the jeweler who worked with us. He looked over our design and told us he had never seen anything like it, but “it would be fun to make!” We were nervous since we had never seen or held the original ring in person. We had no idea how it would turn out. Vic helped us find the perfect diamond for our budget and had the wax models of my fiancee’s engagement ring and our matching wedding bands ready for us within 10 days of us placing the order. All 3 rings were ready 2 weeks later. When we got there to pick them up Vic and his Dad looked on while my fiancee opened the box. It was better than we could have imagined! Vic’s Dad commented that it was a relief that it fit her perfectly since it was a difficult design to make, and having to resize it would mean having to start all over again. I was thrilled, and my fiancee was incredibly happy. Our wedding bands were also perfect. We highly recommend IOTR, for their personal service and craftsmanship.
This should absolutely be your one stop shop in the downtown Los Angeles jewelry district. My now fiance and I went in together twice to get the ring of my dreams just right, and they were so nice and accomodating each time. He said when he went back to pick up the ring right before he proposed that they were just as nice as usual and they did a spectacular job! Their prices are great and they are willing to take the time with you to figure out exactly what you want and will teach you everything you need to know about diamonds so that you feel well-educated and informed when finally making that large purchase! They don’t charge extra to make a custom ring like we chose to do and it turned out better than I even thought it would! They don’t try to upsell but instead are very straight forward. You definitely don’t get the typical cheesy salesperson vibe from this family. Their selection is excellent and we can’t wait to go back during their 20% off wedding bands sale to get both of our bands! Also, they had my ring ready in 3 weeks! 3 weeks for a custom ring!! I can’t recommend this place more highly.
I went to the Diamond District with this place at the forefront of my mind (because of Yelp). ?I went in and the sales woman tried to sell me a 1.5 ct. SI2 diamond for $8100. ?I asked if that’s the best she can do and she said it was. ?Their website has bigger VS1 and VS2 stones of the same color and cut for $5500 and less. ?Rather than haggle and bring up the massive discrepancies between the website and what she told me, I was so put off by it I walked out. ?I found a great deal a few stores down the street.
When you first walk into the diamond district it seems a little unreal. All of these stores (many of which are basically “stands” in an indoor jewelry market) are beckoning you to view their wares. It can be really overwhelming. Fortunately I had done my research on yelp and found the top 5 highest rated places (taking into account number of reviews also). first stop was Intagem, with whom we had a good experience, as they were very customer-friendly and tried to work with us. However they didn’t have an affordable pave band. I had reluctantly given up my dream of a Pave band and chose a ring there, but something told me to go to IOTR and see what they had to offer first. So my fiancee put a deposit down to hold the “1st” ring and decided to check out IOTR. Good thing. Although they were busy the staff really worked hard to get us what we needed. I think the person who helped us was the owners daughter. When my fiance told her the budget, ?I was sure she was going to stifle a laugh then direct us to the nearest Claire’s, but instead she treated us with great respect and worked for over an hour trying to find the closest match to desired style and price. In the end IOTR offered a better ring quality and price than we had gotten anywhere, INCLUDING from a jeweler who is a friend of the family! so we dropped the Intagem deposit and went with IOTR.After he bought the ring they provided great assistance with finding an insurer and making sure all the certificate paperwork was in order. So bottom-line, the best deal quality and cost -IOTR! Without ?a doubt.
i really don’t understand why this place has such high reviews. ?there are such better prices and selection elsewhere, and the service was lacking. ?first of all… the girl who helped us was very inexperienced and lacked knowledge. ?she was very nice and sweet, but she thought that platinum was the softest metal. ?she was sure of this fact. ?hello??? ?platinum is not softer than gold, and if you’re supposed to know more about jewelry than i do, then you should at least know this simple fact. ?secondly, i told her the color, clarity, and carat i wanted, and after she took a very long time to find diamonds to show me (too long for my poor fiancee who was about to fall asleep in her “office”)… she came back with nothing i asked… lower color, lower clarity, lower size. ?it was kind of a waste of time, and with the downtown jewelry district, you don’t have a whole lot of time to waste. ?i will say that they are very nice and will take their time helping you, but what they were asking for what they were showing was not rock bottom prices. ?just shop around and it will be obvious that there are other places to look.
I have to agree with everyone else. I looked thru thousands of wedding rings and I am not kidding. Finally someone told me about these guys and that they could make a custom ring. I liked that they were family owned and run. The dad is the jewler and the two sons do all the sales. They never made us feel rushed and explained all the different metals to my fiance for an hour. They did an amazing job on my custom ring and were very honest about what would look good and what would not. Also they do a very important thing. They let you be there when they set your stone if you are using a center stone of your own. It is fun to see the process and it is important to insure the safety of your diamond. I highly recommend this place even thought the parking around them is really expensive so i would go on the weekend when it is about 6 dollars to park instead of 10. Also don’t be fooled buy their location. They are the best.
I was a bit nervous to do the whole downtown LA/jewelry district thing but went to Icing on the Ring because my husband-to-be and I received something in the mail from them with a 20% off discount. We needed to get a band for him and were going to be in the area so we decided to give it a shot. All-in-all, we are both very glad we decided to try IOTR. Yes, it is tiny inside but the selection of men’s rings was more than adequate and, in our three trips to the store, we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for assistance. (If you do have to wait Silver Jewelry, there are some comfortable chairs, magazines and a fridge stocked with soda and water. We could only come on Saturdays and it seemed like the earlier we arrived, the less crowded the store was). They seemed to have quite a few cases devoted to engagement rings although that wasn’t what we were looking for. They also have some nice groomsmen gifts, too. There was a slight hiccup with our order but Vic made everything right and corrected the situation immediately so we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience.
I purchased my wife’s engagement ring as well as our wedding bands at Icing on the Ring. I couldn’t recommend them more. I went into the entire ring-purchasing process completely clueless. I began by researching stores on Yelp and based on the rave reviews, went to Icing on the Ring first. They answered all of my questions and explained to me what I should look for in an engagement ring. I found the perfect engagement ring which my wife absolutely loved. We then took advantage of their holiday wedding band event in December and received 20% off of our order. The business is family-run, and everyone is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Vic helped me the most through the process. He always recognized me when I came in, and even recognized my voice on the phone. They even re-sized my wife’s engagement ring and cleaned it at no charge. When making such a life-changing (and expensive) purchase, you want to trust the store you are buying from. I couldn’t trust Icing on the Ring more, and would recommend them to anyone searching for engagement and wedding rings.
My fiancee and I went there today, on a whim, to view wedding bands. ?The staff was incredibly helpful, nice, and not pushy at all. ?We were actually unaware that they had a 20% discount special that ended today. ?They could have totally taken advantage of our lack of knowledge. ? We had a great experience with them and can’t wait to have our rings delivered. ?Overall, a wonderful experience.
I was shopping for an engagement ring recently and was recommended to check out Icing on the Ring. Vic was very helpful and I can say that the ring setting created by Vic’s father is gorgeous and I doubt you can find another with the same amount of detail and craftsmanship. I would highly recommend Icing on the Ring, its a bit pricey but once you’ve seen the setting, its hard to go back to anything else.
We got our wedding bands here years ago, but I thought I would finally write a review since I ?have referred at least a dozen people to them. ?Raffi is great, patient and explains everything you need to know about buying a diamond and what to look for. ?They finance and even provide temporary settings to propose. ?My friend actually ended up keeping her temporary setting since she loved it so much. ?The prices and quality are amazing. ?If you are looking for a diamond or wediing bands, definitely check this place out first!
Thank You Raffi!!!!! You and the fam rock!!!
Icing on the ring store have plenty men’s wedding bands and my husband quickly found what he wanted for his band which is very unique. They did design my wedding band to go with the engagement ring~fabulous job done!
Raffi was fantastic in helping me find the perfect engagement ring. ?I took two days to visit and do “the sit” with about a half dozen jewelers in LA and found them all, with the exception of Raffi at Icing on the Ring, to be very pushy and oftentimes slimy. ?Raffi was excellent to work with and he will be our first stop when we buy our bands in a few months.
We did not get our engagement ring here. ?We got this remarkably unique, impossible to replicate, gorgeously specific ring for her, with diamonds, and white gold, and all the pretty pretty and yadda, yadda. ?But because of the thickness of the band and the particular brush on the gold, we were having a hard time getting it sized (the jeweler who made it being abroad). ?We took it a bunch of places and then finally here. ?(I should note that I came in with a serious attitude and skepticism. ?Being a New Yorker that’s my default setting, but I was also tired of talking to a lot of clowns who were incapable, trying to run us down, or both.) ?Garro successfully deflected my crappy attitude and was the only one we met who both said he could do it and didn’t try to overcharge us wildly for doing something he said he couldn’t do in the first place. ?He sized it to her finger exactly, adjusting it while we were there until it fit her just right (forget this standard sizing nonsense) and then kept it overnight to get the finish matched exactly so. ?He buffed it out, polished it up, and…whatever…the guy is a pimp. ?His daughter is lovely and charming, his sons are solid fellows, they’re 4th generation jewelers…and if you don’t have a good experience here, then you’re the jackass, not them. ?We’re going back to get the wedding bands. ?Word.

:

Speak The Truth Z.

So when i got engaged I went downtown to the mart to look for a wedding ring for my husband. I was chatting with this very pretty young blonde and she was trying to help me find something. when I didnt see anything and was about to walk away, she escorted me down the street to a high rise where the owner was, with all of the loose stones and inventory. She left me in his hands. His name is Michael and he was the owner. I told him that I saw a ring downstairs on the way over and I wanted one MADE like that. I picked out the loose stones and the setting Body jewelry, paid and was on my way. SO, a few weeks go by and i call him to find out if its ready, since I had not heard form him in the 2 weeks time frame he had promised. He said it was ready. I went to pick it up and noticed that all the diamonds were tapered. ( Tapered means the rectangle shaped diamonds went into a point at the end and they set them in a way where they appear to be squared off and straight ). Its a low cost way to sell the unwanted or undesirable diamonds in the lot. Anyhow, these were not the diamonds I had purchased Costume Jewelry! I had purchased baguettes, ( rectangle cut ) Michael had switched the diamonds on me. This is considered the most un ethical and dishonest thing one can do in the jewelry business. SO, I called him on it and we got into an argument. First he tried to bull-s*&^ me and tell me the diamonds came from the same lot as the ones I purchased, then…. he finally admit that he went downstairs and purchased the ring I had modeled MY ring after from another vendor! ( which was about 1200 bucks ) keeping the several thousand dollars I had given him for the other loose diamonds and to make my design. The argument was so bad he finally told me to F off , grabbed the ring off the counter that I had paid for, put it in his pocket and then called security on me to have me escorted out! So, now he had my money and the ring. When I told security what had happened, they instructed him to give me back the ring. Ultimately, to keep from being arrested and stripped of his crudentials, Michael ?ended up making the ring I had ordered with what he says are the loose diamonds I had purchased but who really knows. At least they weren’t tapered and it looked decent enough. Listen, he sticks a pretty, trustworthy looking girl downstairs in the pit to gain your trust and once she passes you off to him your in the hands of an evil thief. Do not trust him. He verbally abuses and degrades women and rips off honest, hard working people. If you are a man, do not send your girl Silver Jewelry, mother or sister ?alone with him and more-over, don’t give your hard earned cash to a liar and a thief.

This place has really nice jewelry and accessories…a little pricey, but a lot of it is made of real silver and/or hand-made. The merchandise is both unique and pretty. The customer service was excellent. The owner silver jewelry, who makes the jewelry was super friendly and accommodating. I bought a hair pin and a dragon penant, both of which she wrapped beautifully without being asked. I asked if she had a chain for the penant and she custom made one out of a silver chain, plus added a black one and a leather one, all three for free. I was very impressed with the quality of both the items and the service. Also, this store is in a mall-ish/ market so you can shop for many things at once.
I was looking for a place to shop for hair band and accessories and I finally found a place for it. This is it!!!! I bought their hair band which is super comfortable to wear since its hard to find one like that. Also, their hair jewelry is super cute and fun! If yas live around the store def. a place to check out. The owner actually makes everything there so if buy her stuff for ex. hair band that has jewelry on it and get sick of it Stainless Steel Rings, u can go and ask her to take it off and make it as brooches or hair jewelry.

These guys are THE BEST!!! Wish I knew about them sooner… here is the story:My now husband took me ring shopping before we got “officially” engaged so I could get a ring I really loved… another reason why I love my husband – gave me a budget & said let’s look! Anyway, after much looking, and looking and looking, I finally found the one I really loved at a guy in downtown LA… we thought great deal, love my ring, we are all happy. THEN I MET DAN FROM MS DIAMONDS a month after I had my ring! So, we had MS Diamonds make a wedding band to match my engagement ring – it looks better than my engagement ring! Seriously – the diamonds are better, more clear Stainless Steel Earrings, sparkle, use the entire space available – it’s amazing to see! I show people all the time – they are both on my finger so it’s totally obvious that my band is of far superior quality. Come by the bakery – happy to show you!Dan is awesome to work with – have sent several friends to him & all the men say how easy Dan made the whole thing & all the women thank me for getting them a ring they love.Bottom line – GO TO MS DIAMONDS for any & all of your jewelry needs! My hubby even got his band there for what felt like next to nothing Body jewelry! THANK YOU MS DIAMONDS!
Dan was great in helping me out in the whole process. ?Never pressured me and knew when to leave me alone so that I could make my decision. ?Great in answering all my questions and will definitely not hesitate in going to see him again for future purchases.
I have purchased quite a bit of jewelry in my day, and nobody has worked with me to genuinely help me find exactly what I want until I was turned on to MS Diamonds. ?Dan went above and beyond my expectations to sit with me and ask just the right questions to help me get the perfect diamond and setting. ?It is a pleasure to not be treated as just another sale and it is refreshing to not be pushed around by a sales person just looking to make a commission.

The main reason i come here is for Lyons tea. Until recently it has been unavailable due to some exporting issues but i would come back and check regularly for it. The owner is a fellow Lyons drinker so she hooked me up with her substitute brand until the drought was over. And it now is, mercifully, over!! They also have a great selection of Irish, English and Scottish sweets and other foodstuffs (like the crisps that come in chicken and beef flavors that you can’t get from the US brands) in which i occasionally partake. Yum. Now, I can get Lyons for less online but the Irish Import Shop is right down the street from my house and it is such an odd little place–in a strip mall with a tattoo parlor, a pawn shop and a Thai massage place (and the strip mall next door features one of my fave Thai massages, Thai Classic Massage, which i’ve reviewed, too). The windows are all blacked out like there is something naughty going on in there but as others have mentioned, it’s just Irish-y inside, and the owner is a total crack-up. Love her.
Awesome!I was excited to stop here and was in the neighborhood getting some of the best ice cream ever made (at Scoops just a mile away). ?So, we moseyed on in for a look. They carry all sorts of Irish goods. ?I went just to browse. ?They have barware, clothing and logowear, cd’s’ dvd’s, etc. ?I loved the food selection. ?We left with a bagful of great Irish candies and some Irish breakfast sausages. The lady working these is Irish through and through. ?She had all sorts of information on Ireland and free Irish newspapers as well. ?A must stop if you want something unique!
I LOVE THIS PLACE! ?If you are looking for Irish ANYTHING, this is the place to go. The owner, Anne is wonderful – it’s such a pleasure just to pop in and have a chat with her. ?She’s always busy, but never too busy to ask how you’ve been and chat you up a bit. ?Her gentle manner and accent is almost therapeutic! I go in just to chill out, relax and reboot. Anne aways has live Irish news playing in the background, or some great Irish music, so the moment you step in you feel transported to the Emerald Isle. ? The inventory is amazing! Where to start??The lovely hand knit sweaters, hats and scarves are gorgeous! ?ALL kinds of books (Recipe, history, language, children’s, etc)Funny Irish T-Shirts (Guinness Merchandise as well)Lovely Waterford Crystal and Beleek PotteryFabulous Irish soap, perfume and bath saltsBumperstickers and key chainsGreeting cards (in English and Gaelic)Cool genuine Blackthorne sticksBig selection of Irish/Celtic music (trad and modern)VHS and DVD’sGuinness pint classes, shot glasses, bar towlesINCREDIBLE selection of Irish jewelry (rings, earrings, necklaces, etc)You can even get Dettol Irish antiseptic – this stuff is incredible, use it 100 different ways. But – my favoriteTHE FOOD!Everything from chocolate to tins of peas, beans, custards and treacle!McVities, HobNobs – and some of the best array of Irish and British candy you will see in LA (Cadbury, Quality Street, etc). ?There are mixes for trifle, puddings, brown bread, soda bread and potato bread. A few kinds of cereal and oatmeals, fab selections of teas (loose and bagged), nice assortment of drinks and sodas, (Mix some Ribena with 7-up and add a splash of the Lemon Barley Water – deeelish!). Delicious jams and jellies too! Also lots of condiments – Coleman’s mustard, Goodalls steak sauce, Heinz salad spreads. My favorite is the Coleman’s Garden Mint sauce. The refrigerator and freezer is PACKED with even more mouth watering selections! ?Rashers, sausages, black and white pudding, cheeses, scones, breads, lemon puffs and tarts, desserts, etc. ?What a treat! ?While you are there you can ask Ann about the local Irish scene and what events are going on. She always knows the latest about what plays, concerts or other events are coming up. ?She will usually have flyers as well. ?She also has the local Irish paper and a few Brit papers as well, free of charge – just pick one up or ask!If you’re lucky, you’ll be there on a day Anne has some fresh baked scones bagged and ready to sell. ?You can always call ahead and ask if and when she’ll have them. It’s always great to visit this store, but it’s especially wonderful this time of year Stainless Steel Jewelry, and even closer to Christmas. Anne always orders lovely Irish Christmas items Stainless Steel Necklaces, – ?ornaments, Christmas Cards from Ireland, specialty Holiday treats and stocking stuffers, Christmas Crackers filled with goodies, Irish holiday music, etc. I can’t think of a better place to stock your pantry, or buy a unique gift for a friend (or yourself!). Oh and did I mention that one time I was there, Colin Ferrell was just leaving? ?Yeah, not a bad perk! ?You never know who you might run into!
Best selection of boxed Christmas cakes & Puddings in town!Christian Louboutin Outlet
This is a fantastic store situated in the heart of Hollywood that really sells Irish wares. ?The book section is fantastic, as are all of the other sections. ?The CDs are plentiful and the selection contains titles that aren’t even available at the Amoeba Music just 5 minutes away. This store’s popularity shows because even though it’s a specialty shop, there has rarely been a time that I’ve been in there when fewer than three individual parties have been shopping there. ?Fantastic!
my family has been going to the los angeles irish import store since b4 I was born. It use to be on beverly, lightyears ago, but moved to vine and has not changed!, the original family sold it sum years back to a wondrful woman! Very welcoming, very Irish, lol, and I get all my comforting old country ingredients , brings me back 2 my childhood. This shop makes u part of the family and irish community, u must go get sum irish candy!
This is a small shop in a strip mall off a Melrose but the food selection is good. ?The mustards and Irish treats are great. ?It is filled with all the normal cheezy Kiss me I’m Irish stuff but the food is worth it. ?Not cheap mind you but if you want a specific thing they may just have it. ?We go there for mustard and some curry that can’t be found at Ralphs or Pavillion. The lady working there is very nice!
I am in love with this place. My favorite candy is the Violt Crumble bar and when work is bad or my day isn’t so awesome, I can walk down the block and make my day better with a trip to this awesome little store.

I recently posted a review after my husband had a less-than-positive experience in the Beverly Hills store. ?I have to be fair and repost this review because I spent 45 minutes talking to Helen Ficalora about our experience. ?I really enjoyed our conversation and fully believe that she is a businesswoman and artist that really stands behind the quality of her pieces, her customer service and just her overall brand. ?I now believe that we caught one or two of her employees at ?bad times and in unfamilar scenerios that they may not have known how to handle. ?She was a pleasure to speak with on the phone and I would encourage others to vocalize the good and bad of their experiences with her. She really appreciates her customers and wants us to have amazing experiences every time we are in one of her stores.
I ordered an alphabet charm and necklace via phone for 2 day delivery a Christmas gift for my girlfriend. ?When the package arrived it was nicely wrapped. ?Christmas morning she excitedly opened only to find that instead of her initial “H” they sent an “M”. ?”Is it suppose to be an M?” She asks. ?Oh crap I quietly think to myself. ?HELEN FICALORA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!Now I don’t know about any of you other guys out there but screwing up your first Christmas together is a pretty big rookie mistake. Thanks Helen Ficalora!I leave a message Christmas day with the Helen Ficalora 800 number asking for someone to call me back. ?I hear nothing Sunday or Monday until I call back mid day Monday. ?I’m promised that a Manager will call me directly. ?No manager calls back. ?Finally I call back and the person that answers the phone, first offers to mail me the charm and when I tell said person I spent an additional $25 for two day delivery she offers to 2 day me the correct charm. ?Thursday the charm is still not here. ?Checking FEDEX I realize they’ve provided an incomplete address (the same address the sent the first incorrect charm to) and the shipment is being held. ?I call FEDEX and fix their issue. ?Thanks for letting me know there was a shipping issue Helen. ?(I call her Helen now because at this point I feel like we’re on a first name basis.)Frankly, the woman I talk to is very nice (She’s not Helen – Helen doesn’t seem to take phone calls) and apologetic but the issue isn’t getting fixed. ?I would not recommend ordering items over the phone at all. ?I have been told that the fabled manager will actually dain to call me tomorrow and frankly I’m thrilled she’s taken the time to personally add to the confusion. ?I’ll update this review and let you know how that goes.In the meantime, my girlfriend won’t be able to get the gift until January 3rd. ?For those of you keeping score at home that’s 10 days after Christmas! ?Merry Christmas baby, I mean Merry Christmas 2011 baby.On the upside if Helen keeps screwing up and they deliver her gift just late enough, I can make it a combo Christmas / Valentines present. Thanks Helen. UPDATE: ?OK. ?Yes, Virginia there is a Helen Ficalora.First I did eventually speak to the fabled manager. ?In short Stainless Steel Jewelry, she refunded my shipping charges and was apologetic. ?In the end, I was still frustrated, a $25 refund was not going to make up for one ruined Christmas morning and all the subsequent headaches that ensued. ?Now yesterday, I get a call from my friend Helen. ?Seems her son was on yelp and saw my review. ?So Helen called me. ?We had a very nice conversation, she was very understanding and apologized for the incident. ?She took ownership which I very much appreciated. ?She offered to exchange the charm for one of a higher value (Now that my girlfriend has it, it’s not coming off her neck – so that’ a no go.) and I politely declined. ?I appreciated that she took time out of her day and called. ?I appreciated that she seemed genuinely concerned. So I’m moving my stars up to three Helen, Thank you for your person call.
UPDATE: ?A week ago, I received a voicemail from Helen Ficalora Stainless Steel Jewelry, herself, and I had the pleasure of speaking to her at length. ?She made no excuses for my experience, but was very apologetic, kind, and incredibly genuine and generous with her time. ?It was quite humbling to see that she took the time to speak to me personally. ?She truly understands that all of her employees are a direct representation of herself, and when something goes wrong, she accepts full responsibility. She was incredibly refreshing and honest. ?Her business model should be a benchmark of how business owners should treat their customers when things go awry. ?She even generously reimbursed me for the overdraft fees I incurred during this whole experience. ?I am forgiving and appreciative of my experience and dialogue with her.
I am a big fan of HF! Totes my go-to place for pretty little things for my girlfriends and for myself! Great gift idea for bridesmaids too! They are well known for their gold disc charms that are stamped with different letters of the alphabet. Their necklace chains are also really pretty and I also love their dainty stackable rings. There are many items that are reasonably priced ($150) and if you want to get something more blingy, they have that too. They have something for everyone in yellow/white/rose gold. The girls there are really helpful and will assist you in making a special personalized gift for a friend or for yourself. Lastly, they have great customer service. They are accommodating and want you to be happy. They’ll accept returns and exchanges. You have to check it out for yourself. You can’t miss it. It’s the cute hot pink space across the street from Sprinkles!
I can’t believe this place hasn’t been reviewed yet! ?This jewelry is so hot in NYC that there is always a line outside around the corner and they only let 10 people in at a time. ?Beautiful chains, charms, rings and earrings all in yellow, white or rose gold. ?Very simple, elegant and timeless pieces. ? Penny size charms in every letter of the alphabet as well as numbers. ?Create your own necklace with your sweetheart’s, children’s or your own initials. ?They also have things like peace signs, smiley faces, starfish and all the astrological signs, with or without diamonds. ?Soon to be featured on the Simple Life, this store will likely become a destination for tourists and celebrities alike.Designed to look like a music box, it has all pink walls, hard wood floors and dazzling crystal chandliers. ?And its across the street from Sprinkles!! ?Say hi to Maura if you decide to go, she’s a sexy one!!!!
I love helen ficalora!! I received a necklace–the alphabet charms–about 6 or 7 years ago, and I have only had great experiences with them and I just love all of the charms! The only thing that keeps me away is the price, but it just means that its saved for special occasions!
I think this place is extremely over-rated and suffering from a case of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” It is cute, normal stuff that looks kind of cheap and trendy (not timeless) but is really expensive and a lot of people are in a craze about it. The small, stamped disks look rudimentary – like a child lacking fine-motor control had a go at it. It is 14 kt, not 18 kt, but VERY expensive for what it is. It’s all the same stuff…not much in there is different. The staff is not very polite (another sign of trendiness) and now you have to be buzzed in to the store. I think you could get much more for your money elsewhere, and be treated much better.
Gorgeous pieces. ?Fair prices…..just go there….you will love it Vintage Costume Jewelry!

Lily Lotus is a cute little boutique with ?a beautiful collection of clothes. ?They carry an assortment of bras and panties as well as belts and shoes too. ?The ladies that work there are very friendly and can help you put together an outfit that looks great on you. They are located on Manhattan Ave just South of the Pier.
Dressier clothes are difficult to find in the South Bay…even the better department stores in the South Bay (ahem, Nordstrom) are subpar.Lily Lotus is an exception. ?Although the boutique is tiny, every single one of their dresses appears to have been selected with much care and a good eye. ?Anytime I need a dress for a wedding or other special occasion, and I don’t have time to trek to the Westside or South Coast Plaza, I end up here and almost always find something. ?The prices are either retail or sale – I don’t seem to see any mark-ups. ?And the sale prices can be really good. ?The staff is friendly and very helpful.Brands include BCBG, Cynthia Steffe, Autumn Cashmere Body jewelry, and much more.
Normally I wouldn’t rate a woman’s boutique store. ?But this place helped me so much with my lady gift ideas, I just had to let it be known. ?Cute little boutique with amazing selections. ?The owner and her crew are super helpful and knowledgeable. ?As a guy, it can be hard finding a gift for your girlfriend, especially if she’s a picky one. ?Luckily my girlfriend loves this place Stainless steel jewelry, so I can never go wrong getting a gift here.

This jewelry store seems like it’s been in the Santa Anita mall forEVER!And every time I pass Christmas gifts, it seems like Floreal is there. So when M and I went looking for a replacement engagement ring in December, this is one of the stores in the mall we stopped in.Floreal helped us to pick out my new and very pretty diamond ring. ?He explained so much about diamonds and and rings and even told us a cute little story about birds chipping away at a rock.I felt we were in good hands. ?I don’t think Ben Bridge has sales, just quality jewelry.Since I was happy with my engagement ring (Signature diamond), we decided to stop by and see what they had in the way of wedding bands. ?While my engagement ring was being cleaned in the back of the store, we looked at some various wedding bands with Floreal and both picked out exactly what we had in mind, for a pretty decent price too.I would say definitely stop by to see if they have what you’re looking for. ?They offer financing and have really nice and knowledgeable employees.Bonus: Floreal also passingly mentioned he was on a few of the LOVE BOAT episodes back in the day. ?I’m not sure if that’s true, but I’m going to believe it, since it makes the ring buying process a little more romantic ?:-)If you’re reading this because you’re shopping for engagement or wedding rings jewelry making supplies, Congratulations!!!And Happy Shopping.
